Valentine’s Day is Almost Here!

The ‘Velvet Nosers’ here at Beauty’s Haven are eagerly awaiting Valentine’s Day once again this year with hope that each of their ‘Aunties’ & ‘Uncles’ will send them a ‘Virtual Valentine!’ All you have to do is inform us of the name of the horse, mule, donkey, dog or feline that you wish to be your Valentine, together with a suggested donation of $25 & Voila! If you are unable to donate $25 at this time & would still like to send a Virtual Valentine to your favorite Beauty’s Haven critter, any amount would be so very much appreciated as well. Of course, if you wish to send a Valentine to more than one member of our beloved herd, that too, would bring innate joy to all.

Christmas Countdown!

Jazzy has asked me to let you all know that there are just fifteen days remaining until Christmas, and since Christmas is our little herd’s favorite time of the year, they are so hoping to find their stockings brimming with gifts on Christmas morning. And with your help, we are confident that all of their Christmas wishes will come true!

So, if you would like to help fill the stockings of our ‘Velvet Nosers’ with a donation or an item from their Christmas wish lists, such as dietary supplements and specialized grain, not only will it fill their hearts with innate joy, but it will assist us in achieving our year-end goal as well. ANOTHER Match Game?!


Our second Match Game is now complete and our GivingTuesday campaign is almost halfway to the finish line, thanks to the amazing generosity of our Match Game sponsors coupled with the support of our wonderful little village! As in previous years, this fundraiser will now morph into our End of the Year Campaign in hope that we will be able to reach our goal of $10,000 by year’s end.

And thanks to the amazing generosity of two additional friends and supporters, a new Match Game is now on the table, whereby all donations up to $1,500 will be matched dollar for dollar.

On This Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday is crucial for nonprofit organizations like Beauty’s Haven for it enables us to continue our most important mission of helping equines and other sentient beings in need.

Our campaign this year will focus upon helping horses in our care as well as others in need, by providing assistance for the numerous ongoing expenses involved in running an equine rescue organization, expenses that are necessary to ensure the overall safety, health, comfort and well-being of each and every member of our little herd – many with special needs. This includes providing each with a specific tailor-made nutritional plan consisting of both dietary supplements and specialized feed.

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000, and we are so truly grateful for a dear friend and supporter who has offered to kick off our campaign with a Match Game in loving memory of her beloved horse, Onyx.

A Bale for JoJo & a Match Game!

Hey Everyone!

JoJo here! Mommy Theresa is very busy taking care of all my friends here at Beauty’s Haven, so being the good boy that I am and her very best helper, I thought I would come here and try to raise money for this week’s Hay Fundraiser. I am hoping to find sponsors for forty bales of two-string orchard hay at a cost of $20 per bale. Once we have enough sponsors, the second phase of this fundraiser is to raise funds for two one-half pasture bales of hay.

The good news is, a very special friend has offered to match all donations up to $400, and thanks to our wonderful aunties and supporters, together with the Match Game, twenty-two bales of hay have already been sponsored with just eighteen bales to go! And, with $175 still remaining in the Match Game, this is a perfect time to double your donation. Think of it as two bales for the price of one!

Farrier Friday: It’s (almost) a Shoo-In!

Just 9 Equines to Go!

Our October “Farrier Friday” fundraiser is almost complete thanks to the most thoughtful generosity of our wonderful little village of supporters. Peaches, Jo, Jazzy, JoJo, Ebony, Lily, Luigi, Warrior and Sassy are quite worried, however, as they are the only members of our little herd who may not have “Happy Feet” in time for Halloween.

The average cost per “hooficure” is $40 and these sweet equines would be forever grateful to anyone who helps ensure that they, too, will have ‘Happy Feet’ for Halloween. If you are not in a position to donate at this time, however, we truly understand, but you can still help by sharing this need amongst family and friends. It’s Farrier Friday!

As we approach the end of October, ‘Farrier Friday’ is once again, upon us. As the majority of our twenty-four equines receive a trim every four to five weeks, with the average cost per hooficure being $40, the farrier bill truly adds up very quickly! We hope to raise $1000 to cover the hooficures for Aaleyah Belle, Beau, CaryLou, Danni, Tobias, Walker, Elka, Luigi, Warrior, Ford, JoJo and Jazzy, to name but a few, and we are confident with your help, we can quickly raise the necessary funds to ensure that each and every member of our little herd will have ‘Happy Feet’ in time for Halloween.

$1000 Match Game & Summer Fundraiser Update!

A dear friend and supporter has recently come forth to offer a Match Game whereby all donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar. Once the Match has been met, our Summer Fundraiser goal of $5000 will be complete! This is a wonderful opportunity in which to not only double your contribution, but to make an incredible difference in the life of each and every member of our beloved little herd.

The Tractor & Mishka’s Paddock – Covered!

With the rainy season upon us, horses with thin soles, like Mishka (who carries 2,000 lbs. on his feet), need extra attention. It’s essential that he has soft sand upon which to stand, but the rain has washed away much of this footing material. We plan to fix this issue by adding an additional load of sand ($250) which will be kept in place by adding fabric at the front and side of his shelter. This is a big job that requires a tractor, but the tractor needs repairs – a parking brake, hydraulic actuator seal, hood latch, 4-wheel drive shift lever, and seat replacement. The estimated repairs are $1,800, but we will not have to schedule the next regular maintenance check until we have utilized fifteen hours of run time.

Fence Boards Still Needed

As the seasons change, our fence boards expand and contract, oftentimes breaking. This creates a safety risk for our horses. We need to replace at least 20 fence boards and keep 5 spares on hand. The 1”x6”x16” pressure-treated boards cost about $19 each, and we’re hoping our wonderful supporters will help sponsor a board to assist us in maintaining a hazard free environment for our little herd. And, with the Match Game, each donation for one board, will automatically, translate into two!

Beauty’s Haven Truck

The BH truck, essential for our daily work, needs its annual maintenance to keep running smoothly. We’ve received an estimate of $2,400 from the dealership which does not include 5 new tires with sensors, which would add another $1,700. We plan to get the tires done at Sam’s Club for a lower cost.

Miscellaneous Expenses

In preparation for the upcoming hurricane season, we’ve had the generators serviced for $440. We also still have veterinary bills ($3,000+), farrier and hay expenses, as well as additional ongoing needs.

More than HALFWAY THERE!

Summertime Blues & Freedom at Last!

I apologize for being remiss in keeping everyone informed about the latest happenings at Beauty’s Haven, but as you know, we have been dealing with Pigeon Fever here at the rescue, which, unfortunately, has affected our donations significantly. The extra biosecurity measures and daily care required a great deal of time, making it difficult for me to stay active online. Thankfully, things are getting back to normal, but now, we have a lot of catching up to do. We are, thereby, reaching out to share some of our current needs, hoping for your support as we move forward. As of today, we are, therefore, launching a fundraiser with a goal of $5,000 which will help cover these pressing needs:

It’s essential that Mishka has soft sand upon which to stand, but the rain has washed away much of this soft footing. To fix this, we plan to add fabric at the front and side of his shelter to help keep the sand in place. This is a big job which requires a tractor, but the tractor currently, needs repairs – a parking brake, hydraulic actuator seal, hood latch, 4-wheel drive shift lever and seat replacement. The repairs are estimated to be $1,800, and a regular maintenance will not be needed for another fifteen hours of run time, so that is, most fortunately, not an immediate expense.

As the seasons change, our fence boards expand and contract, oftentimes breaking. This creates a safety risk for our horses. We therefore, need to replace at least 20 fence boards and keep 5 spares on hand. The 1”x6”x16” pressure-treated boards cost about $19 each, and we’re hoping our wonderful supporters will sponsor a board (or part of one) to help us maintain a safe environment for our herd.

The Beauty’s Haven truck, essential for our daily work, needs to have its annual maintenance done in order to keep it running smoothly. We’ve received an estimate of $2,400 from the dealership to perform this work, as well as an additional estimate of $1,700, for the installation of five new tires with sensors. We plan to get the installation of the tires and sensors completed at Sam’s Club at a lower cost.

In preparation for hurricane season, we’ve had the generators serviced for $440. We also still have veterinary bills ($3,000+), farrier expenses, hay, fuel, as well as many additional ongoing needs.

Freedom at Last!

This is what freedom looks like! Valley Girl is back out with her friends and she is so very happy! I am happy to say, we are, at least for today, free of Pigeon Fever! It’s still in the surrounding area so we will continue to take precautions. But we are thrilled that Valley Girl is finally out and about once again.
