JoJo has asked that I send you all an email on his behalf:

Hey Everyone!

JoJo here! Mommy Theresa is very busy taking care of all my friends here at Beauty’s Haven, so being the good boy that I am and her very best helper, I thought I would come here and try to raise money for this week’s Hay Fundraiser. I am hoping to find sponsors for forty bales of two-string orchard hay at a cost of $20 per bale. Once we have enough sponsors, the second phase of this fundraiser is to raise funds for two one-half pasture bales of hay.

The good news is, a very special friend has offered to match all donations up to $400, and thanks to our wonderful aunties and supporters, together with the Match Game, twenty-two bales of hay have already been sponsored with just eighteen bales to go! And, with $175 still remaining in the Match Game, this is a perfect time to double your donation. Think of it as two bales for the price of one!

Contributions can be made by clicking on the ‘Donate’ button below. All contributions are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small. Thank you!

Just 9 Equines to Go!

Our October “Farrier Friday” fundraiser is almost complete thanks to the most thoughtful generosity of our wonderful little village of supporters. Peaches, Jo, Jazzy, JoJo, Ebony, Lily, Luigi, Warrior and Sassy are quite worried, however, as they are the only members of our little herd who may not have “Happy Feet” in time for Halloween.

The average cost per “hooficure” is $40 and these sweet equines would be forever grateful to anyone who helps ensure that they, too, will have ‘Happy Feet’ for Halloween. If you are not in a position to donate at this time, however, we truly understand, but you can still help by sharing this need amongst family and friends. All contributions are tax deductible and no amount is ever too small. Just click on the Donate button below.

Thank you for your love and support!

As we approach the end of October, ‘Farrier Friday’ is once again, upon us. As the majority of our twenty-four equines receive a trim every four to five weeks, with the average cost per hooficure being $40, the farrier bill truly adds up very quickly! We hope to raise $1000 to cover the hooficures for Aaleyah Belle, Beau, CaryLou, Danni, Tobias, Walker, Elka, Luigi, Warrior, Ford, JoJo and Jazzy, to name but a few, and we are confident with your help, we can quickly raise the necessary funds to ensure that each and every member of our little herd will have ‘Happy Feet’ in time for Halloween.

We would be forever grateful to anyone who wishes to help sponsor a hooficure for their favorite Beauty’s Haven horse, mule or donkey, but if you are not in a position to do so at this time, we truly understand. You can still help, however, by spreading the word amongst family and friends. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is ever too small. Just click on the ‘Donate’ button below.

Thank you for your love and support!

Sincerely,
Theresa

A dear friend and supporter has recently come forth to offer a Match Game whereby all donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar. Once the Match has been met, our Summer Fundraiser goal of $5000 will be complete! This is a wonderful opportunity in which to not only double your contribution, but to make an incredible difference in the life of each and every member of our beloved little herd.

The Tractor & Mishka’s Paddock – Covered!

With the rainy season upon us, horses with thin soles, like Mishka (who carries 2,000 lbs. on his feet), need extra attention. It’s essential that he has soft sand upon which to stand, but the rain has washed away much of this footing material. We plan to fix this issue by adding an additional load of sand ($250) which will be kept in place by adding fabric at the front and side of his shelter. This is a big job that requires a tractor, but the tractor needs repairs – a parking brake, hydraulic actuator seal, hood latch, 4-wheel drive shift lever, and seat replacement. The estimated repairs are $1,800, but we will not have to schedule the next regular maintenance check until we have utilized fifteen hours of run time.

Fence Boards Still Needed

As the seasons change, our fence boards expand and contract, oftentimes breaking. This creates a safety risk for our horses. We need to replace at least 20 fence boards and keep 5 spares on hand. The 1”x6”x16” pressure-treated boards cost about $19 each, and we’re hoping our wonderful supporters will help sponsor a board to assist us in maintaining a hazard free environment for our little herd. And, with the Match Game, each donation for one board, will automatically, translate into two!

Beauty’s Haven Truck

The BH truck, essential for our daily work, needs its annual maintenance to keep running smoothly. We’ve received an estimate of $2,400 from the dealership which does not include 5 new tires with sensors, which would add another $1,700. We plan to get the tires done at Sam’s Club for a lower cost.

Miscellaneous Expenses

In preparation for the upcoming hurricane season, we’ve had the generators serviced for $440. We also still have veterinary bills ($3,000+), farrier and hay expenses, as well as additional ongoing needs.

If you’re able to participate in the Match Game, please click on the ‘Donate’ button below. If you’re unable to help financially, we completely understand, but you can still assist us by sharing our fundraiser amongst family and friends.

We are more than halfway there in our Summer Fundraiser thanks to the generosity and love of our wonderful little village of supporters! As we still have a ways to go, we would be forever grateful for your assistance with any of the much needed items listed below.

I apologize for being remiss in keeping everyone informed about the latest happenings at Beauty’s Haven, but as you know, we have been dealing with Pigeon Fever here at the rescue, which, unfortunately, has affected our donations significantly. The extra biosecurity measures and daily care required a great deal of time, making it difficult for me to stay active online. Thankfully, things are getting back to normal, but now, we have a lot of catching up to do. We are, thereby, reaching out to share some of our current needs, hoping for your support as we move forward. As of today, we are, therefore, launching a fundraiser with a goal of $5,000 which will help cover these pressing needs:

Special Thanks!

We were blessed to receive a $1,000 donation from the Pine Ridge Equestrian Association, which helped cover our most recent hay run. We are so deeply grateful for their generosity! We have also received a most generous Match Game offer whereby, all donations up to $250 will be matched dollar for dollar.

Freedom at Last!

Horse running free in a fenced field.

This is what freedom looks like! Valley Girl is back out with her friends and she is so very happy! I am happy to say, we are, at least for today, free of Pigeon Fever! It’s still in the surrounding area so we will continue to take precautions. But we are thrilled that Valley Girl is finally out and about once again. Please click on the image to view Valley Girl’s joyous return to freedom.

GivingTuesday was established as a straightforward concept: to dedicate one day each year to ignite the spirit of love and generosity around the world. And today, we are thrilled to kick off our GivingTuesday campaign, starting with a $1,000 Match Game! Each and every donation up to $1,000 will be doubled. A $10 donation will become $20, and so on, until we reach $1,000, which will then turn into $2,000! Our goal this year, is to raise $10,000.

With your help, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless animals. While GivingTuesday officially falls on December 3rd, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, you don’t have to wait to donate.

You may contribute to our GivingTuesday campaign by clicking on the image above or on the ‘Donate’ button below.

At Beauty’s Haven, we are immensely grateful for the compassion and support we’ve received from our wonderful community of friends and supporters throughout the years. Your kindness has empowered us to carry out our essential mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming, and providing sanctuary for countless animals – equines, canines, felines, cows, and goats – who oftentimes find themselves abandoned and alone through no fault of their own.

We genuinely appreciate your assistance during our unforeseen emergencies during the past year, as well as for your contributions to our routine care expenses. We faced a number of challenges in covering significant surgical/veterinary expenses, particularly, Amira’s hospitalization, the impaction and subsequent surgery for our dear Benjamin, Baby Eleanor’s eye removal, as well as Gabriel’s final expenses including burial. Additionally, we incurred necessary veterinary, dental, and farrier costs for our new arrivals; Addi, Cracker, Ford, Tobias, Dusti Rose, our sweet newborn orphan goat, Gabi, as well as for our recently returned senior mare, Shai. Our TNR program has also incurred expenses in relation to spaying, neutering, and vaccinations. We are, thereby, designating this year’s GivingTuesday fundraiser towards addressing these costs while also replenishing our medicine cabinet with essential supplements and medications.

Thank you in advance for being an integral part of our mission by allowing Beauty’s Haven to continue its quest of being a place where “Life Begins, Again!”

Sincerely,
Theresa

Amira was so ready to come back to the farm following her procedure at the hospital. She couldn’t wait to get down to her paddock where she hangs out with her dear friend, Shai. Amira is officially receiving all soft meals, now, as she is 30 years old and her teeth are quite worn down.

We are so grateful for all of your good thoughts and prayers for Amira – they worked!

We also have some exciting news! A dear friend and supporter has come forth and has offered to match all donations up to $1000 which will greatly assist us in getting caught up with our veterinary and farrier bills as well as help us restock some very important items in our medicine cabinet.

We realize that so many others are in dire need of assistance following hurricanes Helene and Milton, so if you are unable to assist at this time, we truly understand – but you can still help by sharing this newsletter amongst family and friends. If you are in a position to help our little herd, however, please click on the ‘DONATE’ button below. As always, all donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small.

Thank you, all, for your love and support!

Sincerely,
Theresa

Here we go, again.

We are currently in the midst of battening down the hatches once again for Hurricane Milton, and repairing the fences damaged by Hurricane Helene. Bob made a run to the feed store this morning, made possible by the most thoughtful generosity of our wonderful little village of supporters, so, thankfully, we now have enough hay to last until Friday. We still have many additional hurricane related needs – we do need to get grain and forage as well as fill up the truck and gas cans now that we have found a source for gas.

Amira, however, could use some good thoughts and prayers. She had issues at breakfast this morning and was treated for choke. Although she seemed somewhat better following a bit of stall rest, I felt it would be in her best interest to call the vet who is en route to the farm as we speak.

If you would like to contribute to our hurricane fundraiser which includes Amira’s emergency vet visit, you may do so by clicking on the “Donate” button below.

Thank you, all, for your love and support!

Sincerely,
Theresa

WE DID IT! Thank you all so very much for sharing, donating, and caring! This will enable us to help get caught up on some farrier, veterinary, supplement, and related expenses!

We are truly grateful for your continued love and support which means so very much to all of us here at Beauty’s Haven.

Sincerely,
Theresa

JoJo Shenanigans

JoJo continues to be a source of amusement at Beauty’s Haven, each and every day. He remains the ‘King of the Golf Cart’ even though, much to his chagrin, he really is much too large to ride in it any longer! He does happily run along beside me, however, whenever I am out and about running errands in ‘his’ cart. JoJo is also a bit perplexed about no longer being allowed into the house as he once was when he was just a baby donkey.

Please click on JoJo’s image to view a brief video of his latest shenanigans! We are so blessed to have this special boy, together with his very best friend, Jazzy, in our lives.
