Volunteer
We would love to have you join our volunteer team! Please be advised that our volunteer program is not a good fit for a one time or short-term endeavor. Because we expend resources in orientation, training, and scheduling new volunteers, we ask for a minimum of a four hours each week over a two-month commitment. Our daily routine shifts are 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm. We will consider exceptions to this in some circumstances (i.e. community service hours).
Below are areas of duties, and each may include:
- Caring for Horses: feeding, filling and distributing hay bags, maintaining cleanliness of the barn, stalls, shelters, waterers, and paddocks, cleaning feet, grooming horses, hand walking horses, cleaning feed/tack room, etc.
- Admin Duties: updating health records, correspondence, etc.
- Fundraising Events: coordinating and working at offsite trail rides, tack sales, golf tournaments, etc.
- Marketing: create story boards, public speaking, assist at merchandise and/or “show and tell” tables, photography, conducting visitor tours, etc.
- Grounds: weed whacking, trimming trees, mowing, fence repairs, etc.
- Volunteer Program: recruiting, conducting orientations, etc.
We strive to ensure the safety of all animals and humans at all times. Therefore:
- Volunteers 13 – 17 years of age may volunteer only if their parent or guardian supervises them at all times. This basically means the parent or guardian becomes a volunteer as well.
- We regret that we are unable to allow children younger than 12 years of age to volunteer.
