As you all know, we didn’t have a Thanksgiving save this year which I felt absolutely terrible about, especially since we had many calls from others wanting to surrender their horses. At the time, however, we were focused upon Beauty who was very sick and in the hospital. I am still adjusting to her being gone and I miss her so very much.

In honor of Beauty, we took in an aged mule that needed help as our Christmas save. Her name is Elka.

Just because one is old, doesn’t mean they should be neglected or sent to slaughter – every life is precious and every life matters. Elka will now only know love and proper care – this is our promise to her as it is to every sentient being that enters through our gates.

Elka would very much love to have sponsors to assist with her daily expenses, so if anyone would like to sign up to do so, it would be so greatly appreciated. Just click on the ‘DONATE’ button below, where you may sign up to become a monthly recurring sponsor, or if you prefer to make a one-time donation, there are a variety of ways in which to do so. All donations are so greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

Sincerely,
Theresa

Lucy and CaryLou have asked that I share their Christmas Wish List with Santa! They are asking for items that they really need, so if anyone wishes to be their ‘Secret Santa,’ it would truly make their hearts sing on Christmas day! You may forward a donation toward an item simply by clicking on the ‘DONATE’ button below, or, if you would prefer to purchase an item and have it sent directly to Beauty’s Haven, our address is: P.O. Box 53, Morriston, FL 32668. Thank you for always ‘being there’ for our beloved little herd.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

Sincerely,
Theresa

During this most devastating time as we mourn the loss of Beauty, the Arabian mare that was the beginning, as well as the heart and soul, of Beauty’s Haven, we find it difficult to even put one foot in front of the other. We must, nevertheless, dig in our heels and carry on for the sake of the remainder of our equine herd as well as for the other sentient beings in our care. And whilst Beauty is no longer physically here, we know in our hearts that she will forever be watching over me and the rest of her family and friends here at the rescue.

With #GivingTuesday 2023 upon us, we are hoping and praying for your support to assist us with the numerous ongoing expenses involved in running an equine rescue organization.

These expenses that are necessary to ensure the overall safety, health, comfort and well-being of each and every member of our herd, many with special needs:

  • Broken gates and fence boards need to be replaced,
  • repairs to shelters and equipment are needed,
  • the supplement and medication cabinets need to be restocked,
  • Some horses here have no sponsors to even cover their daily expenses, and the list goes on.

As Beauty’s Haven is also actively engaged in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), the most effective and humane method for managing and subsequently, reducing the population of the numerous feral and stray cats that frequently find their way to our farm, your donation will also assist greatly with the veterinary and overall care expenses of these precious cats and kittens, who, sadly, find themselves alone and unwanted through no fault of their own.

We currently are in need of a catio which will provide a safe and warm place for the feral cats and kittens that routinely visit. Just last week, a new family of five kittens and their mother showed up – a big catch cage which would enable us to catch multiple cats and kittens at once would be a most necessary and welcome addition to our TNR program.

Lastly, In honor of Beauty, a wonderful supporter has offered a $1000 Match Game to kick off our fundraiser. We would be forever grateful for your support on this #GivingTuesday, 2023.

Sincerely,
Theresa

After finally winning the war on Gabe‘s abscessed and ulcerated eye, which we have been treating since the end of August, our poor boy was sadly stricken with a bout of colic on Friday. Thankfully, we managed to get him through this episode; within a few hours he passed gas, had a bowel movement and was, once again, drinking. And then a few days ago, Willow, an eighteen year-old Thoroughbred mare we adopted out in 2016, came back to Beauty’s Haven through no fault of her own.

Willow and Gabe are both in need of sponsors to help with their daily ongoing care, so if anyone would like to sponsor either of these precious horses, just click on the ‘DONATE’ button below. Gabe and Willow, who have now become the very best of friends, would most assuredly, be eternally grateful.

We also have a substantial balance remaining on Aaleyah’s veterinary bill following her surgery and subsequent hospitalization a few months ago, so if anyone would like to assist us with this need, it would be truly appreciated. If you would like to help Aaleyah, you may do so, by once again, clicking on the ‘DONATE’ button below. Donations may also be called directly into PetersonSmith Equine Hospital at 352-861-1251 or 352-237-6151, account #95501.

Thank you for your love and support. We most certainly could not do what we do without our amazing village of supporters .

Sincerely,
Theresa

Aaleyah Belle continues to recover nicely albeit a bit too much at times, as she frequently tries to do her ‘Cricket Dance!’ She was one happy girl on Saturday when she was turned out in a small paddock next to her best friend, Chloe.

Aaleyah is as determined as ever to overcome any obstacle that she encounters. She’s been a strong girl since the day she was born. Against all odds, Aaleyah Belle never gave up!

Aaleyah’s hospital bill was a bit more costly than we had originally anticipated but with the help of our wonderful little village, I am confident that we can get this done.

If you are in a position to help Aaleyah, donations may be called in directly to PetersonSmith Equine Hospital at 352-861-1251 or 352-237-6151, account #95501, or you can simply click on the ‘DONATE’ button below where you can contribute in a variety of ways. We also have yet another Match Game on the table and once again, all donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar! This is a wonderful opportunity for those of you who missed our last Match Game! Please note that your contribution is for ‘Aaleyah’s Match Game.’

Thank you, all, for your continued love and support.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Aaleyah Belle is clearly demonstrating that she is tired of stall rest. Just another week to go. Oh joy! She will then spend two weeks in a small turn out area which I am sure, she will like much better! If you click on the image of Aaleyah, above, you can see our ‘wild child’ in action!

We are truly excited to announce that a dear friend and supporter has most generously offered a Match Game to assist with Aaleyah’s surgery, hospitalization and veterianary fees, whereby, all donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar!

This could not have come at a better time as we still have a very long way to go. If you wish to participate in the Match Game, you can do so by visiting our Facebook Business Page (CLICK HERE) or you could simply contribute directly to Beauty’s Haven by clicking on the ‘DONATE’ button below. Please note that your contribution is for ‘Aaleyah’s Match Game.’

Thank you, all, for your continued love and support.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Aaleyah Belle thankfully continues to do well since her return to the rescue following her surgery at PetersonSmith Equine Hospital. Although she would prefer not being in a stall, she can, at least, still gaze out over the farm from her window. Aaleyah can also see her best friend, Chloe, from afar and needless to say, she was completely over the moon when Chloe got to visit with her from the paddock outside the barn area over night. I know that both girls will be happiest when they are together once again.

We currently have a Facebook Fundraiser underway to help cover the cost of Aaleyah’s surgery, hospital stay and veterinary care. We are forever grateful to each and every one of you who has contributed thus far, but we still have a very long way to go.

Sadly, in the world of animal rescue, especially with equines, who, despite their size and grandeur, are really quite delicate beings, unexpected medical emergencies can arise in the blink of an eye, emergencies which must be acted upon quickly in order to save a precious life. And since we depend solely upon contributions and grants to ensure the safety and well-being of each and every member of our beloved little herd, we are now, desperately seeking your help. Aaleyah will be so very appreciative of any contribution designated to her surgery/hospitalization. Just click on the ‘DONATE’ button below to make a contribution directly to her Facebook Fundraiser.

Thank you, all, for your continued generosity, love and support. *Please click on the image above to view a video of Aaleyah, our beautiful girl who ‘never gives up.’

Sincerely,
Theresa

Aaleyah Belle is back at the rescue! Colic can happen at any time and I still cannot believe that we lost Oasis a couple of weeks ago to this insidious condition. And then it hit Aaleyah Belle out of the blue! Aaleyah so loves life and I am so very grateful that she got through this. She never gave up! Life can truly change in a blink of an eye. Thank you, all, so very much, for your good thoughts and prayers. We have been blessed many times with answered prayers. This is yet another blessing.

We have currently posted a fundraiser on Facebook to help cover the cost of Aaleyah’s surgery, hospital stay and veterinary care. If anyone would like to help with this need, you can visit our Facebook page (CLICK HERE), or if you prefer, you may contribute directly to Beauty’s Haven by clicking on the ‘DONATE’ button below. Please note that your contribution is for ‘Aaleyah Belle.’

Thank you, all, for your continued generosity, love and support. If you would like to see our girl up close and personal, just click on the image above.

Yesterday afternoon, JoJo was concerned because he heard a hurricane might be coming – he saw a kayak on Frosty’s Knoll and Lucy wearing a snorkel. Well, we definitely have a hurricane coming and Lucy was definitely in a snorkel, but I was really proud of her because she was already wearing her EquestriSafe ID collar! We have a ton of things to get done in a short period of time and I’m very thankful that we have collars for the other horses and the dogs.

The hay trailers are empty – we need to make two hay runs and get a load of shavings ASAP in advance of Idalia. If anyone can help we’d really appreciate it. We need to raise $1600.

Please click on the ‘DONATE’ button below if you can assist us at this time. And, see sweet JoJo’s message up close and personal by watching the video below, straight from the donkey’s mouth!

Thank you to everyone who has donated a fence board(s) thus far, but we do have a way to go with 31 boards still needed at a cost of $14.50 per board. The good news is that we are almost halfway there!

We are also truly pleased to announce that a dear friend and supporter has come forth and has offered to match all donations up to $450 designated for the fence boards. Any overage will be applied to filling the in-ground Propane tank that feeds two generators so they will be ready for potential hurricanes.

If you are in a position to help with this need, please click on the ‘DONATE’ button below where there are many options in which to forward your contribution. Please be assured that all donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small! Please note that your contribution is for ‘Fence Board Match Game.’

Thank you, all, for your love and support.

Theresa
