Celebration of Life 2019

 

We have a very busy schedule for the next couple of months. Our daughter, Katie, will be graduating from the University of Florida and our son, Joshua, from Larkin University. We’re going to have a physical therapist and a pharmacist in the family – we’re very proud of them! We also have a wedding we’re planning for – Katie is getting married in late May!

Instead of a springtime Open House this year, we’ve opted to hold a Fall Festival. We haven’t set a date as yet, but we’ll be working on that as soon as possible. When we have all the details in order, we will issue an announcement so everyone can plan to attend.

We appreciate everyones’ votes but we were informed yesterday by SunState that since we won last year, we cannot participate in the $1000 contest for 24 months following the month we won. However, we can still be chosen as the random charity to win $500, but that doesn’t require votes.

How about another contest – does anyone know of any in which we could participate?

Celebration of Life Images & Video

Many thanks to everyone who made our Celebration of Life a huge success and thank you to our friends and supporters who attended – some even came from out of state! For those who were unable to attend, we have captured on video some of the wonderful moments of the day so please ENJOY!

Volunteers are key to what we do here and we need more! It is one of the primary reasons that we are going to relocate as soon as we find suitable property that is closer to the vet school. And right now, until I am out of a cast, we need help even more!

Our Betsy Rose Blanket Fundraiser is down to the wire! Only three days remain to take a chance on one of the two beautiful Betsy Rose Blankets being offered!

Each suggested donation of $5 must be received by 12:00pm EDT on Saturday, May 12, 2018. If you are attending our Celebration, you may submit your contribution in person, up until the time of the drawing.

Online donations may be submitted via our website at https://bhfer.org/donate/ or over the phone at 352-258-9309. Please note that your donation is for “Betsy’s Blanket.”

Names will be drawn at our Celebration of Life, which is being held on May 12, 2018 from 11:30am to 3:00pm at Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc., located in Morriston, FL. The name for the blanket being offered online will be drawn and announced at 2:00pm. The name for the second blanket, being offered only at the Celebration of Life, will be drawn and announced at 2:30pm.

WRAP YOURSELF IN BETSY ROSE’S LOVE

Betsy Rose, the little mare that overcame insurmountable challenges with fierce determination and dignity, lives on through our memories and in our mission to help horses. She taught us perseverance, courage, compassion, patience, wisdom, to never give up, and to believe. She proved that miracles do happen!

Betsy was the light that guided us on an unforgettable journey which led us to realize that love truly is the most powerful spiritual force that exists. She captivated countless hearts from around the world and this year’s Celebration of Life is being held in memory of this little miracle mare that we miss so very much.

In memory of Betsy Rose, we are offering two very special plush fleece blankets. Each blanket measures 50″ x 60″ and includes photos of some of our amazing adventures with Betsy.

Starting immediately, for each suggested donation of $5 submitted online or over the phone that is designated for “Betsy’s Blanket”, you will have a chance to become the owner of one of these heartwarming blankets! Donations may be submitted via various means on our website at bhfer.org/donate.

The second blanket will be offered only at our Celebration of Life. For each suggested donation of $5, made during the event at our raffle table, you will have a chance to become the proud owner of the second blanket.

BABY NOAH – OUR HELP A HORSE DAY RESCUE

04/18/17

Our 8th Annual Celebration of Life/ASPCA Help a Horse Day is on Saturday, April 22nd, and almost every year, a horse in need finds its way to Beauty’s Haven just before the event. Well, this year, it’s not a horse, but a baby lamb with an injured leg!

The baby will be arriving this evening and will be going to the vet tomorrow. We are praying that his leg can be fixed. If not, we will address our options then, based on information learned from the vet.

At this point in time, we are only asking for pledges to help this sweet baby boy.

Later Monday Evening ~

Meet Noah – a month old lamb with a fractured leg. He’s a happy little one. We are praying that the vet can set and cast his leg and that Noah will have many years ahead of him.

Baby Noah has the cutest “baaaa!”  Anyone with his milk bottle is “mom.”  He’s off to the vet’s office and we’re getting ready for Cookie’s surgery this morning. It is going to be a very busy day!

So Much to Share and Lots Coming Up!

April 16th – 20th, 2015

April 16th
Sisco, Athena, and Serenity.  A cute little herd.  But Serenity will be going home soon.  She’s has a new human family!  Phil Yarborough has opened his heart and home to this very special girl!

April 17th
Willow was introduced to Peaches yesterday. It’s the first time Willow has had an equine friend in 8 years!

In June 2010 the owner of a TB foal decided he didn’t want the baby – the foal had a large hernia and leg injury.

We brought him to the rescue. He was simply stunning – I named him Armani.

Even as a baby, he has always been a big boy. It turned out that he is a great-great grandson of Secretariat!

We had his hernia repaired and he grew strong. Armani was adopted by Kateri and Dean in Colorado where he is a happy boy that is still growing! Kate Chenery and LeeAnn Ladin (co-wrote Secretariat’s Meadow” visiting with him in August 2011.

This photo of Armani was taken a few days ago. Thank you Kateri and Dean for taking such good care of Armani! Another happy story….

April 19th Breakfast!!!

The officer team of the DeLand SR FFA spent the day here and it was simply awesome!  Not everyone could make it here on April 25th to our ASPCA Beauty’s Haven Equine Rescue’s Help a Horse Day & Celebration of Life 2015 so we had our get together today.  We had lots of fun and so much got done – it was great!  I’ve lots of photos to share tomorrow but for now we’re calling it a day!  Thanks Jenna!  You and your team did a great job!

As is our Celebration of Life!

Don’t forget to register for the Beauty’s Haven Obstacle Challenge 2015 SOON!  We always have a blast!  We are looking for volunteers, sponsors, and participants!  Let’s all get together and have a great time – we all deserve a break for a day!
