Sunday, December 15th Update

Betsy Rose sporting her tangled mane today.

Betsy Rose rules the barn. She’s so special!

Mollie sporting her new blanket. She got to go out in the main paddock today with the big horses!

The boys felt a bit frisky after all the rain. They ran and played and rolled and were a mess!

Santana – he’s a very, very sweet boy. Santana is still looking for help with his monthly expenses. Would anyone like to help sponsor him?

Some of our "old ones" today – everyone was filthy from rolling after the rains cleared this morning. GMan, E, Matilda, Solace.

The rains Saturday night were torrential. Lower paddocks are flooded with standing water. The precious grass seed spread over all of the property for winter rye is gone. The erosion is horrible – there are new holes and trenches that the horses can get hurt in. This is so depressing. We need help with the erosion issues – any ideas anyone? We got so much rain it almost filled up a poop bucket.

This washout at the perimeter fence line left us vulnerable to unauthorized critters. In the last photo you can see what the county has done over the years. The road is now a good 16" above our paddock. They put lime rock down every so often and then grade it and when they do it pushes the lime rock against our fence. All of the water from the road runs into our paddock. It needs to run somewhere and I guess I wouldn’t mind the water only – but the rocks it brings with it are horrible.

An open invitation for coyotes, etc.

When they grade the road they push the lime rock against the sides of the road and it has accumulated against our fence line. People can stand in the road and reach right over to pet and feed the horses. This is unacceptable.

Good grazing land was lost – covered by lime rock that contains lots of rocks that cause stone bruises. Please pray for a solution. We are meeting with the county in the morning.

A little video of Cerinade – she is a beautiful and sweet girl that needs a forever home. But she is a mare – lol! Garan (also looking for a home) is her same age – they make a beautiful set of bookends. Ceri is totally dirty in the clip – it was taken this am after a long night of heavy rains. Of course, all of the horses had to roll and roll.

We are trying to raise funds to purchase hay this week – please consider making a donation to help. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit equine rescue organization that operates totally off of donations from the public – we are not funded by County, State, or Federal funds. Please consider making a one time or automatic monthly donation to help us to help the horses. There are various ways to donate – visit our "Donate" page on our website. Our mailing address is PO Box 53, Morriston, FL 32668. Our PayPal address is theresa@beautysequinerescue.org. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small. Please share us with friends, family, and co-workers – it takes a village!

Have a great week, everyone!

Sincerely,

Theresa
