Introducing Bronson – October 5th to 7th, 2013

Based on an email I received – this baby colt became an orphan at 1 month old in a field where his momma died. The person that got him from that situation (about 2 months ago) emailed and asked if we could take him in – they can’t afford to keep him and don’t have time to give him. He is living alone – he is lonely. They can’t take him home because of a horse aggressive dog. We are glad the person took him out of the situation he was in and then reached out for help when needed – and we do want to help. The thought of him being so young, and alone, is of concern. I then asked for current photos of the foal and these were provided – the email stated they were taken last week.

He’s just a baby. He reminds me of Legacy who had a similar start in life. If anyone would like to pledge to help us to him please let us know. Right now we are asking for pledges. I’m trying to set up a time to see him and hopefully pick him up and bring him here to the rescue. If this works out, we will then ask that the pledges morph into donations. A baby needs interaction with humans and with other horses – he needs to learn to be a horse. We have 3 baby boys about his age that would welcome him, I’m sure.

Ending today with some cute photos of Bronson – he got a little hooficure and it was really nice to hear him having conversations with others. He will have many friends here – horses of all ages (and humans too). We’ll get him fully vetted. At some point, his hernia will be addressed or perhaps as he grows, it will go away – we have had that happen in the past with babies.

Visiting with Bronson after I got home today – he’s a very talkative little boy! So far, we’ve received $275 in funds that were pledged to help him. Dr. Julia will be here tomorrow to examine him. Thank you all for caring about this little one. I can’t wait for him to be able to play with the boys!

Twenty five years ago today, we had a little miracle happen – our son, Joshua, was born! I got to have lunch with both of our human kids today – the only person missing was Bob! But we’re celebrating again on Thursday here at the farm – we’ll all be together then for cake, presents, and a movie. Happy birthday Joshua – we love you!

We had a pretty nasty storm this evening and got dumped on with lots of ran again. The good thing about that is it will keep dust down for a bit, but the bad thing is the erosion it caused.

I had to go to the eye Dr. today – have been having pain and discomfort in my right eye. I have some eye medication now that will hopefully help. I won’t be able to wear contacts for awhile and my glasses were 15+ years old and many strengths ago. Everything is still fuzzy, so I’ll be off here for the rest of tonight. I won’t be getting to emails, PM’s, etc. until tomorrow. I need to give these eyes a break and hopefully, the headache will go away.

I would like to ask everyone to say prayers for Cookie. She will be going back to the hospital on Thursday.
