So Much to Update You About! Jan 18th – 21st 2015

February 18 – 21, 2015

Betsy Rose got her acupuncture/TENS treatment last Saturday. Some of her lab work came back, but not all, and Dr. Julia pulled another test (thyroid) this past Monday but we likely won’t have those results back until next week. From what we do know, Betsy’s glucose is high and her kidneys are a little stressed. But her CBC results were good. Once we get additional test results back, we will know more. She wouldn’t lay down in her stall so we stripped it and switched the shavings to pelleted bedding but she still won’t lay down in there. But in the mornings, she goes right out after breakfast and naps in the sun. She gets a hooficure tomorrow. Please keep her in your prayers.

Athena got an acupuncture treatment last Saturday too.

Athena is so pretty. We’re not sure what breed she is but there’s some draft in there. Her hock boots should be here tomorrow, I hope.

Amber and Baby Ray impatiently waiting on their hay to be unloaded from the trailer a few days ago. We have to make another hay run, hopefully, tomorrow. With the cold temps, we are going through a bit more. It’s already below freezing here tonight.

Amber is such a sweet little mare – she really would make someone a very nice horse. She’s a TWH looking for a forever home.

Baby Ray being, well, Baby Ray. I wasn’t sure how many blankets I’d find torn to shreds this morning. But I guess everyone realized how much they need them and all were intact.

Matilda proudly wears Gentleman’s blanket. I know he wouldn’t mind. I’ll never stop missing him. Dr. Mangan will be here tomorrow to check out Matilda’s eyes.

Tomorrow is a big day – Dr’s. Mangan and Simonson will be here and two farriers will be coming too. Everyone here is bundled up. We’re so blessed that the the horses all have a blanket. This is Sisco.

Guess who got their tail braided on Monday?

We are so blessed to have a dependable truck. The tractor is in the shop and we sure do miss it. It makes for more work when we don’t have it. But at least we found a local place to repair it. The picked it up last Friday and we are waiting on a cost estimate.

February 20th

Aalayeh Belle – when I look at her I see Momma Sue through and through. She came up to have a knee injury checked while Dr. Julia was here.

Matilda seemed so proud of herself today when Dr. Mangan examined both of her eyes and she even allowed him to flush her tear duct without any sedation! The good news is that the issue in her right eye is believed to be Immune-Mediated Keratitis. It is being treated with medication and the cloudiness should improve over the next couple of weeks. The other good news is that her left eye which had tears a lot is fine – it was as suspected – a clogged tear duct. This is something that gets overlooked a lot in horses. When Donovan got here, he had discharge running down both of his eyes that went untreated – there were open sores that flies loved. He has some permanent scars from this. His tear ducts were flushed during his initial exam upon intake and both were clogged. Anyway, Matilda should be fine. Dr. Mangan wants to look at her eyes again in a couple of weeks. The bad news for Matilda, well, there isn’t any!

We are so excited about Daisy’s progress! She’s had two BCG injections now over the past few weeks and we are seeing positive changes around both of her eyes. The tumors have shrunk! She gets oral supplements and a topical applied daily. We are staying positive about her recovery. BELIEVE!

Dr. Mangan also did an examination on Betsy Rose. She’s been blind in her right eye since the day she arrived – it’s totally clouded over. But she’s been startling a bit more lately and we thought having her eyes examined would be a good thing to do. Well, sadly, she is losing vision in her left eye too.

Betsy Rose has polycoria – you can see in the photo it looks like she has two pupils. It’s a very good thing that she’s had time here to get to know her way around. She knows she’s safe here, and loved very much. We’ll put bubble wrap on her if we have to!

“It was a really busy day today – As you know, Dr.’s Mangan and Simonson were here and Laura and Stephanie were here too! They do our hooficures. I’m feeling better but Mommy Theresa’s arm isn’t doing very well. Well, have a good night everyone. Freckles is getting ready to tell Lucy a bedtime story about one of her travel adventures – they do this almost every night. Sweet dreams everyone!” says Betsy Rose.

February 21st

The Bridle Brigade of Levy County came out today – I’m so glad that the weather was better! Lots of horses got some extra attention and some of the chores got done pretty quickly!

Doesn’t Matilda look like she is smiling? In my opinion, we should always take every opportunity we can to help educate the horse owners of tomorrow.

Betsy Rose has been having discomfort mostly in her front feet – mostly the right but she’d shift back and forth between both feet at times and she was laying down more than normal. It started a couple of days after her last hooficure about this time last month. It rained for 2 days after that hooficure. Then Betsy became lame and we thought there may have been an abscess brewing. She did, in fact, pop an abscess in the front right a few days later and she got somewhat better but she still wasn’t herself. We’re always concerned about laminitis so to be sure there was nothing else going on in her feet we opted to have Dr. Porter do some x-rays while he was here on Friday to treat Daisy. We were relieved to see there is no new rotation.
X-rays provided helpful information and the farrier will be here on Wednesday to make some adjustments to Betsy’s feet. And, while Dr. Julia Simonson is here tomorrow to work (acupuncture/massage/chiro) on Matilda, she will also be doing some acupuncture on Betsy Rose.Before coming to us in June 2013, Betsy Rose had suffered. She endured things no horse should ever have to experience. But she is a survivor with a will to live and love beyond measure – she beat the odds. When she arrived, she was too weak to stand and weighed just over 200 lbs. She lived in a sling for the first two months which meant 24/7 hands-on care. Treating bed sores, hand feedings, cleaning her up when she would go to the bathroom, syringing water to her, moving and massaging her legs, helping her to rise and walk in the sling/gantry and, eventually, out of the sling, and much more – her rehab was very intense, time consuming, and exhausting but we held her together. And she held us together – we love her so much! The life lessons she has taught us, and continues to teach us, are worth more than any amount of gold. She believes… And she has taught many others to believe. We’re so very proud of her!
This was Dr. Meeks examining Betsy Rose – the prognosis was poor. Very poor. But it was clear that Betsy Rose wasn’t ready to give up.I made a promise to this little mare the first day she was with us. I promised her that we would do everything we could to make her tomorrow’s everything her past should have been.
The day that Betsy Rose arrived, I apologized to her for how humans had failed her. And then I made a promise to her – I promised her that we would do everything we could to make all of her tomorrow’s everything her past should have been.
We’ll keep you updated with her progress. I know she’ll feel better after her treatment tomorrow – she always does.Some of you may not know Betsy Rose’s story. It’s been an incredible journey. Daisy’s 1st Cancer Treatment

Daisy’s 1st Treatment

Dr. Michael Porter (PHD Veterinary Services) is working with Dr. Brendan Mangan to treat Daisy’s tumors. Dr. Mangan is a board certified ophthalmologist with extensive experience treating such cases! He was the lead surgeon/vet for Cookie’s case when she had surgery at the University of Florida (UF) last year. She had been referred to him by Dr. Porter. Cookie’s surgery was a success but, in order to remove the cancer and save her eye, surgeons had to remove her lower eyelid and do quite a bit of reconstruction by using skin from her cheek. It was pretty amazing!Dr. Porter received his D.V.M. and Ph.D. degrees from the UF veterinary college in 1998 and 2001, respectively. While at UF he also completed a residency in large animal medicine. In 2004, Dr. Porter developed the UF Mobile Equine Diagnostics Service (MEDS) which provided referral level veterinary services to horse owners and referring veterinarians throughout the Southeast. Dr. Porter continues to provide top-of-the-line services to clients via his own mobile practice, PHD Veterinary Services. Dr. Porter has been part of our care team for many years.
We will be providing updates on Daisy throughout her treatment/recovery process. She’s a tough little girl that adores humans and appreciates everything we do for her. She makes us smile. Please keep Daisy in your prayers.

BH December 31, 2013 – January 3, 2014

New Years Eve 2013

The vet was called out this evening as Betsy Rose was experiencing an episode of Choke. The choke was cleared and Betsy Rose is now on antibiotics but she is ok – although, she’s not happy that she won’t get her midnight mash. Betsy has a history of choke and gets a soft watery mash, but unless we muzzle her, she will pick at the grass. I’ll never forget the first time, 2 months after her arrival here in June 2013,when she was able to finally stand on her own and graze (she had to live in a sling – it truly is a miracle that she survived) – it was glorious to watch! Dr. Bess ( Tune Ups Veterinary Equine Dentistry and Services) checks Betsy often and works on her as needed – she’ll be back again in a week or so to work on others and Betsy is on the list.

Betsy Rose is the strongest little mare I know – yet she is still so fragile. She always will be. For those that don’t know her story here is her beginning with us: and here is a video – she’s the little mare that believes… .

January 1st

Betsy Rose is recovering from her choke. She’s still getting soup for meals but hopefully, by tomorrow, she will be able to get a mash vs soup.

As we welcomed in the New Year, little Betsy Rose welcomed in a new friend. A distant relative of Freckles arrived – a cute little donkey named Mani! Freckles and Mani hung out in Betsy’s food dish quite a bit to try to keep her mind off of not being able to eat much yet. Betsy Rose enjoyed listening to them catch up on family stories. Freckles had quite a few stories to tell Mani about life with Betsy Rose too!

Betsy Rose is not allowed to graze but we took turns taking her for walks today.

We have two farriers coming tomorrow so we’re calling it a day here soon. We’ll be setting up the sling in the morning for Peggy Sue’s hooficure. Have a good night everyone and, again, thank you for your continued support!  Thank you Eva!

“Congratulations to our November Equine Hero Theresa Batchelor!” Alltech

Lizanne Quinn from the United States of America, has nominated Theresa Batchelor as her Equine Hero! Lizanne explains that “I have been a horse owner for my entire life and I have never met anyone like Theresa. Her tireless dedication to the horses starved, abused left for dead has truly amazed me. Theresa is a true equine hero!”

Lizanne goes on to say that “I see a lot of people who say that they rescue horses, but Theresa’s rescue is actually a Heaven on Earth and a last stop for many. For the ones that survive, it is only because of her intervention, love and prayers.” Theresa makes sure that every horse that comes through her door is completely rehabilitated and adoptable or else she won’t let them go.

Sadly, Theresa’s rescue is the last stop for a lot of horses that arrive there. However as upsetting as it is to see the horses arrive so broken, Theresa gives them hope and they know on their last days that they are truly loved. Sometimes it’s too late, but the horses have beautiful surroundings, the best care that can be found and a beautiful heart by their side until they pass away or pull through.

Theresa is truly amazing. I can only imagine what the other horses say to the new ones on their way in. Perhaps they say “don’t worry” or “you are safe now” or “thank goodness you made it here in time” or “we love you and we will see you on the other side”.

A beautiful gift from a beautiful and dear friend. It needs no words. Gentleman may not be physically with us this year but I promise you – his spirit is strong and will never leave us. Sometimes, I can almost feel him breathing over my shoulder. I just wish I could turn around and hug him and never let go.

It’s very satisfying to see Betsy Rose tucked in and slurping away on her mash under the heat lamps. I’ll be back in the office in the morning to work on the calendar and, hopefully, I’ll finish it up. Good night everyone.

At this time last year, Ceri and Garan left for their forever home where they are truly loved. Thank you Cindy for opening your heart and home to these two lovely Arabians!

JoJo is truly amazed with the tree and its ornaments. Watching them learn new things, just like our kids did when they were little, is an awesome experinece. It’s truly a blessing to have the opportunity to help these donkeys and horses. Thank you all for your support and for being part of our Village!

November 30th – December 5th 2014 Update

December 2nd

Betsy Rose shares her meal with Freckles on GivingTuesday. Little does she know the joy that she gives 24/7/365. What a blessing it is to have her here with us! Betsy Rose Believes!

Guess what broke again? Yep. One of the golf carts. Hauled away to the repair shop. And this is the GOOD golf cart.

Bryce and Serenity are still looking for their forever home. Please spread the word about them. We don’t want to have to split them up – they are mother/son and have been through so much together. We may have to split them up for Bryce to go to a trainer soon. We are turning horses away that need our help. These are two wonderful and healthy horses. December 3rd

While on my way home from Physical Therapy this morning, I stopped just in time to see this beautiful mommy giving birth!

December 4th

Ginny changing flymasks on Sisco and Athena yesterday. Both of these very sweet horses are looking for forever homes as well.

JoJo stood there and stared at the new ramp, like he was pouting, for a good 10 minutes. Then he walked away looking totally confused.

December 5th

I still find myself looking out the window each morning to see if Gentleman is ok – it’s just habit (and wishful thinking). Instead, I find Little E and Mishka hanging out together. Little E is the senior horse here now.

Matilda is one of 13 that got hooficures today. She’s such a sweet girl – she just makes you feel good! If anyone would like to help with the expense of this we would greatly appreciate it. The average cost is $35 but the draft horses now cost over double that ($75). The total came to about $500.

We are very happy to report that Ginger will be going to her new adoptive family on Monday! She won’t be very far – it’s a perfect situation!

It was so good to see Lynda yesterday! I took her for a trip around the farm so she could visit with all of the horses. Handsome, like all of the others, enjoyed the extra attention. As soon as Handsome’s front foot issue is resolved he will be ready for a home!

Peaches is always willing to come in to help fix feed. She’s still unsound on her front right. Dr. Julia recently did nerve blocks and the issue is in her foot. X-rays were done and nothing unusual was found. Dr. Specht believes there may be a bone fragment in the navicular area that we just couldn’t see on the x-ray. Dr. Porter will be here next week to address issues with Peaches, Donovan, and Daisy. If anyone would like to help with the upcoming expense of the x-rays and exams it would be greatly appreciated. It’s not going to be inexpensive.

Donovan has some issues we’ve been working on over the last few months. He stopped sweating in early summer. He had quite a bit of abscessing in his feet and had some rotation in his front left. The “summer sore” he arrived with healed fine. But there are two sores that simply refuse to heal at the coronet band where he blew abscesses – one on the outside front right and the other on the inside back left. I do not believe they are summer sores – I think they are related to sidebone – irregular bony growth he’s had from years of improper foot care. We’ve done a lot to try to get them taken care of but just when we think we’re there he blows another and we start over. Dr. Porter will be checking it out next week. Again, this won’t be inexpensive – x-rays are needed of both front and back feet. Any amount of a donation would be greatly appreciated. This is an issue that must be resolved. We’ve done everything the vets have advised but there is something more to this – there is a reason he keeps abscessing and we need to get to the bottom of it. He’s very good about the hands on treatment of the areas, thankfully.

Mishka always looks like he’s smiling. Always. He’s like a big teddy bear.

Do you remember Spirit? She is a blind mare that we picked up in June 2012. She had endured years of neglect. It was a horrible situation. I’m happy to report that Spirit is doing well in her adoptive home! She lives with another blind mare. Spirit lived in a large herd of horses, including studs, on several acres where there were many trees with low branches, fallen trees, barb wire, debris, etc. I can’t imagine how terrified she must have been on a routine basis. She has got to be one of the bravest horses I’ve ever met. Despite the life she had been living, and her horrid condition, she never lost her spirit. Spirit seemed like the appropriate name for this beautiful but very neglected mare. Here is a link to her story, in more detail, from the beginning.

Update November 23rd – 25th, 2013

November 23rd, 2013

Beautiful day. But very windy. This is Barbara and Delaney giving out hay.

I’d like to ask everyone to send a good thought or prayer out for mini Peaches tomorrow as she goes to Rainbow Bridge. She was at UF most of last week but her adoptive mom, Susan, took her home to spend a couple of days with her before having the vet out to help her to Rainbow Bridge. Peaches has cholesterol granulomas in her brain and her neurological function has been significantly impaired. She’s been having issues for awhile now but keeping her comfortable and functional has become too much on her. Peaches is 26 and is 1 of 14 mini Falabella horses that we rescued in a very sad case in 2010. There were 7 mares and 7 studs (now geldings). Out of the 14, Peaches will be 2nd out of the herd that we’ve lost. We truly appreciate Susan and the TLC she’s given to Peaches these past few years.

This is mini Peaches with her BFF, Callie. My thoughts and prayers will be with Peaches, Susan, and Callie tomorrow as Peaches makes that transition to the Bridge.

Liberty and her BFF, mini Magic. Both are mares from mini Peaches original herd of 14 – a rescue case we worked back in 2010. They are doing well and are very much loved by their adoptive mom, Lorrie.

November 25th

Some of you may remember Baby Girl – she’s another miracle. Baby Girl was adopted over a year ago to a wonderful family out of state. She recently started showing some changes around her right eye (which was the side of her face that was severely injured when she came to us). After consulting with her adoptive parents vets, and our vets, we thought it would be in her best interest to bring her back to the rescue so the same care team that she had when she was here can examine and assess her. If you read the article it may help to understand why we think it’s important – her case was pretty unique and the fact that she survived with her odds being “0 to none” says something about her love for life. She’s a very special mare. She arrived back here on Friday and settled right back in. She will be going to UF in a couple of weeks. Dr. Morton is looking forward to seeing Baby Girl again! Wow – I really was “glowing” at work this morning!

Some of you may remember Daisy – a 4 year old miniature donkey that came to us in August 2013 with cancer around both eyes – the left eye was not even recognizable. Daisy has had many surgeries/treatments and some of the cancerous areas have improved while some are just determined to stick around. We brought her back to the rescue to continue with her care and try a different treatment. She’s full of life and is just a joy to be around. She doesn’t really know what to think of the boys – we’ve had storms all day and they have been in their stall. Maybe the sun will come out tomorrow and we will see how they do. For now, they talk through the stall gate.

The boys trying to help with the semi-annual great “clean up the barn aisle way up in the rafters” task. Yes, it took from sun up until after dark. But it looks really nice now and the spiders are gone.

Sometimes when I see Little E tagging behind Mishka, I get goose bumps – the loss of Gentleman is still fresh in my head and heart. Mishka is doing well – gaining weight and muscle.

BH November 19th – 22nd, 2014 Update

November 19th, 2012

Princess has been having some issues so she had an acupuncture treatment today by Dr. Julia Simonson. Princess, a 26 yrs young Arabian, has had Equine Metabolic Syndrome for a few years and may have also developed Cushings Disease – several tests were done on her today. Princess was a Top Ten Working Cow horse in Canada in her younger years! Since she has been with us, she’s had 3 adoptive homes lined up. Each time, just before leaving, something would happen – an eye injury, laminitis, another eye injury – so we decided that Beauty’s Haven will be her forever home.

Princess needs help with her vetting and monthly supplements. Would anyone like to help her? Attagirl came to us in August, a bit underweight and we were told that her coffin bone had penetrated the sole of her front foot. Her feet were a wreck. She had horrible thrush – the corium was exposed and it was a bloody mess. This issue has gotten better. Dr. Ryan Meeks did x-rays just to be sure there were no other issues. She also had a sarcoid on her ear that was successfully treated. Her immune system was just weak and stressed. But she put on weight and was doing well. Attagirl was examined today by Dr. Julia. Attagirl has had diarrhea off and on – just when we think everything is good, it’s not. More lab work was done today. Attagirl also needs sponsors to help her with vetting and supplements. For those of you who remember Domino, here’s a recent picture of her! Domino came to us only hours old in May 2012. She had been rejected by her mom. Yes, we spoiled her rotten – she’s another donkey that thinks she’s 1/2 human. LOL! She’s happy and doing well. Thank you Tania for giving Domino a great home and job that she enjoys!

BH October 30th – October 31st Update

October 30th

Jazzy got a bath today. He was full of briars, rainrot, and crud. I did the best I could but we will have to continue to work on it. His skin is sensitive in spots because of the rainrot. The tea tree treatment should help. The barn feels quite empty without Victoria. I missed her good morning whinnies. I miss her.

Jazzy survived his bath today. I know he has to feel much better. It’s sad to think a baby like this could have so much crud and rain rot. He tags along with Betsy Rose some and is getting more comfortable with humans. The boys will be playing together tomorrow.

“JoJo you have a new brother – his name is Jazzy! He’s not used to being handled by us humans very much. I want you to be nice to him and help him to relax. Tomorrow y’all can play together, ok?”
JoJo didn’t really respond so I’m not sure what’s going on inside his beautiful little brain. We’ll find out tomorrow.

October 31st

JoJo and Jazzy got to spend some time together today. I didn’t realize that JoJo would be like Velcro with me around Jazzy! When he first approached Jazzy, it was like he had no clue that Jazzy was another donkey – he was bewildered!

“Mommy Theresa – I don’t understand. Is this a trick or treat?”
Silly boy! I reminded him that he was the one that had been sad because he didn’t have a donkey friend. So, we got him a donkey friend that needed a home. It was perfect for everyone!

JoJo couldn’t believe it – watching him trying to process all of this was simply incredible! JoJo seemed to think for a few minutes and then asked me if he’d have to share his humans with Jazzy and, of course, I explained that he would. Then of all things – he wanted to know if Jazzy would have to wear a flymask too! I explained that Jazzy isn’t used to be handled by humans yet but that he will, eventually, have his own flymask to wear too. Speaking of flymasks, I realized JoJo wasn’t wearing his.

It took awhile but JoJo finally ventured away from my side. But he stayed between me and little Jazzy. I’m not sure that Jazzy is twice as old as JoJo – he is smaller. I’d say they are very close to being the same age. They finally calmed and started to graze, sort of. JoJo was still on “alert” while I left them alone for a bit while I went to get his flymask.

It was really super cute – it was almost as though JoJo thought he was looking into a mirror and didn’t believe there could possibly be another like him on this planet. LOL

I guess Jazzy had enough of JoJo looking at him like he had green ears or something and decided to run after JoJo. It caught JoJo off guard. It was so funny – it was out of the blue and JoJo just took off and had a look on his face like he couldn’t believe Jazzy had the nerve to chase him! LOL

By the end of the day, they had settled and I found them grazing together. They are sharing a stall and pumpkins tonight. Yep, they both have their own pumpkins! JoJo will help Jazzy calm around humans, I’m sure. And so, a new chapter begins.

And guess what trick or treat present the boys will find hanging outside of their stall in the morning? LOL!!!!

CaryLou thought he was king of the trailer – he had the whole thing to himself! The “kids” play on it like it’s a playground. LOL

“Mommy Theresa come look! It wasn’t me! CaryLou is the one that keeps pulling things out of the golf cart and dropping them on the ground! I told him to stop it or we might both get in trouble but he won’t listen! He says we’re too cute to get into trouble – is he right?”

And lastly, meet Mishka (means Teddy Bear), our newest arrival at Beauty’s Haven. He’s a sweet soul that needed a place to land. I’ll update more about him on Saturday – we’ve still lots to do at the barn tonight. It’s going down to 40 degrees and I have to dig out a couple of blankets while Bob is taking big bales of hay down to the lower paddocks. Would anyone like to help sponsor Mishka? He was on his way to auction when we intercepted him. He is thin and has no mane and he has a lot of sores on his body. His poor ears have no hair – they are swollen and raw. He needs a physical (including bloodwork), farrier and dental treatments.

Serenity and Attagirl!

I can’t believe Serenity hasn’t been adopted yet. She’s so sweet. BTW – first time I’ve ridden in awhile.

This little mare is enjoying her Safe Starch forage this morning. Vet appt at 11ish. X-rays around 3 pm. Her name is Attagirl!

We are not pregnant. Whew!

I gave Attagirl a needed bath this morning – she stood like a pro and I think she really enjoyed it. Dr. Ryan Meeks x-rayed her feet and gave us some good news – she has not foundered. She hasn’t got much sole but now she’s got time to grow it – a good diet and some supplements will help. Dr. Julia Simonson examined Attagirl and we got more good news – she is not pregnant! Bloodwork was done. Attagirl is thought to be about 20 years young even though the coggins she came with (issued at auction in GA) states she’s 7 – that’s quite a difference! It was mostly good news for Attagirl today – we are very blessed to have an amazing team of professionals!

Some not so good news is that Attagirl has a bone chip in her back hock – an old injury. It doesn’t seem to be causing any discomfort. She also has some low ringbone in her front right. Now that we have all of today’s info gathered the farrier is the next step – she will be here on Wednesday. Dr. Bess Darrow is going to check her calendar and get Attagirl set up for her dental. It’s rehab time for this little mare. Oh – she taped in at just around 562 lbs.

I can just see JoJo’s mind at work here with Betsy Rose! LOL!

Lucy and CaryLou look to be planning something as Katie rides Serenity this afternoon – these little ones are always up to something!

This is Karol changing out flymasks on Serenity and Bryce today. They are such sweet horses – they need forever homes. Serenity is ready to ride and Bryce is ready to school. Please share their info and help us to find them a home together – they are brother and sister. If we don’t find a home for them soon we may have to separate them to find homes – that would break my heart.

Donovan blew an abscess in his front right. I’m really glad he cooperates when asked to pick up his feet. We’re still working on the back one but it’s much better. His sweating is still not consistent.

It rained off and on all day which meant flymasks off and then on again. The weather report said the rains were done and then the sky would open up again. Victoria got a treatment by Dr. Julia today and she is finally stable enough to get a hooficure done. Would anyone like to help sponsor this? The farrier is coming on Wednesday. Victoria took an indirect lightening strike some weeks ago. Dr. Ryan was amazed when he saw her today – she has improved a lot but still has a ways to go. But she IS improving and for that we are grateful. Slow and steady.
