Betsy Rose enjoyed visitors on Saturday.

Betsy Rose

I actually took some time on Sunday to go for a little ride myself. It was nice, very nice! The weather has been perfect!

Baby Boo is getting big! Daisy’s tumors appear to be shrinking!!

Daisy and Boo

Remember Starlight? She was a rescue we took in last year that was “unwanted”. She had been living in horrible conditions. Look at what she and Jordan accomplished today!!! I’m convinced there are no “unwanted” horses. Some may be misplaced, but they are all wanted, IMO. I’m so proud of both of these girls – just look at the ribbons!

Look at Lacey with her new human – this is a reminder of why it may take us longer than some to find homes for horses. It has to be the right fit – the right connection. Our goal is to find a forever home. When the time, horse, and human are right, well, great things happen. Look at that SMILE! PRICELESS!

The boys have somewhat of a winter coat already – they are so cute! CaryLou still struts. LOL

“Mommy Theresa that’s my itchy spot! WhooHooo that feels good!”

Gentleman loves his tree with overhead mister. And the others love Gentleman. So, they gather each day – under the tree!

HighTower having fun in the hay. LOL! He’s a big teddy bear!

Bo has become quite the babysitter! Bo is the horse that was dropped off in the middle of a dirt road and abandoned. He walked from the road to a tree and that’s where he stood all day long likely waiting for his owner to come back for him. They never did. It was a hot, sweltering feels like 100 degree day, with no water – from at least 7 am that morning until we picked him up late that evening. I think he was likely a cow horse that got injured and could no longer work. He’s got the moves, but he is very lame from an old injury.

I wanted to share this photo of our human son, Joshua. He went for a helicopter ride over Orlando for his birthday!

Dr. Bess of Tune Ups Veterinary Equine Dentistry and Services, will be here on Thursday – would anyone like to sponsor a horse or two for their dental? On the list are Aaleyah Belle, Lucy, Ruby, Lily, Princess, and Morgan.

Have a great evening, Everyone,

Sincerely,

“Guess what Mommy Theresa?  There’s a new Shelter Challenge Contest!!  We need to remind everyone to vote for Beautys Haven starting now and then every day thru Oct 13th!  Think of how much $10,000 could help with winter hay and lots and lots of carrots and watermelon!  Here’s the link where people vote: http://www.shelterchallenge.com/web/charityusa/nomineehome?userId=16660&nomineeId=13994#sthash.BvKkY4gQ.gbpl.

A new accomplishment!!! Betsy Rose has finally started to be able to swish her tail!!

Freckles is so cute – never far away.  We have to keep Freckles up high so that the dogs and baby boys don’t take her away.

Betsy Rose loves to watch the babies…

Remember little Tucker and Red?  They are doing great!  They were 2 mini’s that were part of the “Junkyard 8” case back in Feb 2011.  That is when we took a total of 8 horses that were living in a junkyard including Tucker and Red.  Their story starts in our Blog on February 24th, 2011.  Here is a link: https://www.bhfer.org/oldsite/pdf/blog/February_2011.pdf. You’ll be appalled at the conditions they were living in.  The 3rd picture below was their water source – a man made hole that collected water, oil, and anything else that washed into it.  All of the horses had diarrhea – you can see how bad it was in the 4th picture.

Tucker.  A mini that almost didn’t make it.

This was their water source where they were living. They were living in a junkyard.

This is Glory and Tucker.  You can see the poopy mess down Glory’s back legs.
She was pregnant in this picture.  Tucker was her baby too.

Celesta is so loved…

April 29th, 2013

Below is an update that should have gone out yesterday but didn’t – I apologize. I thought I published it but it was still in my “Draft” file.

This update is a little different from my norm – captions to photos are under the photo instead of before. Some of the pictures are from my cell phone so the pictures are not great quality.

Some of our Barbaro family! Today would have been his 10th birthday. He is a true champion, always.

Starlight and Jordan! Starlight is a rescue that we took in a few months ago. She is SO loved and has never had it so good – she is adored!

Jordan and Starlight back at the barn – look at all of those ribbons! Go girls!

Kylie and Roxy exercising horses and having fun at the same time this past Saturday!

Nevada has been just a pasture pal for quite a few weeks now because he was having an issue with muscle in his back left leg. He appeared sound for the last few weeks. Kylie rode him for a little bit at just a walk but cut the ride short because he started favoring that back leg again. He would really benefit from a chiropractic/acupuncture treatment. Would anyone like to help to sponsor this? He will likely need to be adopted out for a light rider doing light work. We’ll give him some more time, and treatments, and see how he does. He’s a very sweet boy.

Ceri is slowly putting on some weight. She’s a very sweet Arabian mare.

CaryLou did ok for his first lead lesson today. He is hysterical!!

What are the babies waiting for? Their mommas are getting antsy!

Ariel has a little bag. 🙂

Strutting again!! It’s hard to take his picture when he is like Velcro!

Penny is going to feel so much better after her clipping!

What a beautiful color she is!

There was an even more darling face under all that hair!

Lucy wants to help!

Penny looks like a different donkey! Thank you Lynda for making this happen!

Check her out – yes that is a heart on her butt! She is so pretty!

Morgan is looking for a forever home.

Solace is doing great.

Lucy is still doing well. She is such a doll!

Have a great week everyone!

Theresa

Solace has a new snotty nose with an odor to it.  He hasn’t run a fever but he’s not as interested in his meals and just seems somewhat “off”. We’d like to have Dr. Ryan examine, scope, him and do a culture to determine if he’s got something new going on.  This would be about $150.  Would anyone like to help him?  Just 15 people donating $15 each would cover this.

Dr. Ryan will be examining Lucy today, checking out her trach, and pulling some bloodwork.  This will be about $110.  Just 11 people at $10 each will cover it.

Two horses that we had to bring back need vetting and this was not in our budget.  One needs an exam and CBC which will cost about $92. The other needs more – I’m guessing $125 with Dr. Ryan and he will also need Dr. Julia Simonson to work on him for about $125.  Any and all help with these two would be so greatly appreciated.  I’d like to get Dr. Julia out here as soon as possible.  She’s our holistic vet.

Donations can be called directly into the vet’s office at 352-237-6151. Please specify if you call how you would like your donation applied – to a specific horse or to our account in general. We truly appreciate your continued support.  If anyone would like to help with any of these needs you can donate via PayPal address bhfer@earthlink.net or via our website page at www.bhfer.org/donate.  Just indicate what your donation is to be used for.  Donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small.  We operate totally from donations – your support makes what we do possible.  Please share this out.  I don’t like asking for help but I have to.  Thank you!

Theresa

February 10th, 2018

A couple of the horses got a much needed bath this weekend and most got a good grooming.  The mini mares got off the hook for being clipped – there just was not enough time and they are going to be a project.

If only the weather would be this perfect all year and the horses would stay this clean…

Roxy adores Peggy Sue – and the feeling is mutual.

Solace is still doing well and he adores his food!

Nevada looks very handsome!

Sisco eating hay out the back of the truck.  He is doing well too.

Bouie and Frodo – our little fuzzy bears. They are also in the waiting line to be clipped.

Morgan LaFaye – she’s looking for a home.  She’s a very sweet girl.  I apologize that the picture is fuzzy – I took it with my phone.

Hollie is also very sweet.  She has not adjusted well to the Florida environment and is having trouble breathing – the blowing dust from the lime rock road is not good for her and we have very little shade. She will be leaving soon for her new home where she will be more comfortable.  We will miss her but her new mom will keep us updated.

Sunset also has labored breathing.  She needs to find a home that is better suited for her and the sooner the better – before warmer temperatures arrive.  Like with Hollie, the dust that blows off the lime rock road is not good for her and she needs shade.  I’m so glad she was clipped last weekend.

Some of you may remember Archer – he is doing great and his family adores him!  That’s his best friend on the right.

It was a really busy weekend here.  A lot got done – a big “thank you” to everyone that took time out of their busy schedule to come out and help.  The more hands we have to get daily chores done the better – it leaves time for other things like baths, clipping, raking, cleaning up the barn, etc.  It really takes a lot of time, money, and hands on to keep this place going.  We are very blessed to have the support we have – here and from afar.  It’s only because of other people pulling together to help us that we are successful – be it donations, prayers, sharing our info with others, etc.  Without all of you helping us we couldn’t do what we do – we sincerely thank you.

And many thanks to Marie for making and donating the necklaces that helped us to raise the funds to pay for Solace’s blood transfusion – that is a lot of worry off my mind.  And it is only part of the vet bill. We still have a jewelry auction going on to help with other vet needs. And we need to buy hay again.  Some of the horses are getting a hooficure this week – if anyone would like to sponsor a horse please let me know.

I’m calling it a day.  God bless and again, thank you all, very much for your continued support.  Have a wonderful week!

Oh – please don’t forget the current “Valentine’s Day Match Game!” If you donate towards the Match Game please indicate so with your donation.

One of our wonderful supporters has offered a very generous $200 Match Game for Valentine’s Day!  The supporter will match each dollar donated from others until we hit the $200 limit!
So this means a possibility of $400 in donations!

Please remember that all contributions are tax deductible and no donation is ever too small.

Donations may be forwarded via the following link:  www.bhfer.org/donate
