VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR UF GAME AND A WONDERFUL OFFER!

Kathy Raabe Prevatt, a dear friend and supporter of Beauty’s Haven, has a wonderful fundraising idea! Kathy supervises the concession stands during the home games at the University of Florida. She is currently, seeking volunteers to work these concession stands at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday, November 18th, for the game between the Gators and the UAB Blazers.

Kathy has generously offered to match all proceeds from each of the volunteers she recruits, to benefit the horses of Beauty’s Haven.

Eagle Rare Life Award 2018

Jeanne has once again nominated me for the Eagle Rare Life Award for Heroism! Winning this could make a HUGE difference in our mission of helping horses (and donkeys, cats, cows, etc.)! We love what we do, but we want to do more and we can, with help! We want to get more community involvement in order to make a difference to more horses AND humans. We are determined to find a way! There are three entries in the ‘Heroism’ category so we have a good chance to win. We are asking that you vote daily through December 5, 2017! It’s so easy and it doesn’t cost a thing – it takes less than a minute to go to this link and cast your vote!

WE ARE BRACING FOR HURRICANE IRMA

We are riding out the hurricane and no matter which coast it travels up we are going to get slammed.  However, we are evacuating a few horses to TN and the small animals to GA. We are boarding up the facilities, replacing / securing boards and posts, filling gas cans, putting ID collars on horses and and marking them, and much more. We need to get some medical supplies including ventipulmin for Penny and APF that many here need – both are expensive. We were able to have the propane tank filled yesterday (it runs the well pump as a source for water) and we were able to stock up on grain, shavings, and hay.

Transportation expenses, boards and plywood, reflective ID collars for 30+ horses, sandbags, some breakaway halters, hardware to secure barn doors, and other necessary items are roughly going to be $3000.  I’m sorry to have to continue to ask for help – it literally makes my stomach hurt because I realize there are many in need. But we do need help.

There is much to do – Bob needs to go get boards and plywood ASAP – I think we have a couple of people coming this afternoon that can help him. God bless and stay safe everyone. We hope and pray Irma goes far, far east.

BABY NOAH – OUR HELP A HORSE DAY RESCUE

Our 8th Annual Celebration of Life/ASPCA Help a Horse Day is on Saturday, April 22nd, and almost every year, a horse in need finds its way to Beauty’s Haven just before the event. Well, this year, it’s not a horse, but a baby lamb with an injured leg!

The baby will be arriving this evening and will be going to the vet tomorrow. We are praying that his leg can be fixed. If not, we will address our options then, based on information learned from the vet.

At this point in time, we are only asking for pledges to help this sweet baby boy.

Later Monday Evening ~

Meet Noah – a month old lamb with a fractured leg. He’s a happy little one. We are praying that the vet can set and cast his leg and that Noah will have many years ahead of him.

Baby Noah has the cutest “baaaa!”  Anyone with his milk bottle is “mom.”  He’s off to the vet’s office and we’re getting ready for Cookie’s surgery this morning. It is going to be a very busy day!

An Obstacle Challenge & More!

September 16th…

Some wonderful news to share about Spirit – she’s ready to go to her new forever home!  As soon as we raise funds for her journey to Oklahoma, she will be on her way!  Her wonderful adopter has experience with blind horses and the perfect pasture awaiting her arrival! Spirit will even have her very own donkey friend!

Beauty’s Haven participated in the Equine Trail Sports Obstacle Course event at Black Prong this past weekend where our wonderful volunteers served breakfast and lunch.

All proceeds from the breakfast and lunch went to Beauty’s Haven and $400 was raised to help the horses! Many thanks to ETS, Black Prong, our awesome volunteers, and everyone that made this happen!

Baby Long Ears on the Loose!

It was a long rainy and windy night with Tropical Storm Colin coming through but we got through ok. I hope everyone else did too. We really need help with hay – would anyone like to buy a bale? Even part of a bale?  No amount is too small and every donation is greatly appreciated.

Each bale is approximately $18 and we need 21 bales = $378. We also need a few bales of coastal which are $7 each = $49. A combined total of $427. The horses would truly appreciate it – so would us humans.
