The gap is widening between 1st and 2nd place in the Make A Splash contest. Your vote, once every 24 hours through July 31st is so greatly needed! And what will help even more is if you share amongst family and friends and ask them to vote and share daily as well. It’s a free and easy way to help us potentially win $10K.
We have never been fortunate enough to win anything close to $10,000. Although it is a constant and exhausting struggle trying to raise money and take care of the horses all day long, it is truly worth every moment, knowing that we are making a difference in the life of each and every equine that enters through our gates.
Please remember to vote daily to help the horses of Beauty’s Haven!
Wishing everyone a wonderful day and thank you all, for your generosity, love and support.

Aaleyah Belle to the Hospital!
May 13th, 2016
10:01 am
Aaleyah Belle greeted me this morning by refusing breakfast and throwing herself on the ground wanting to roll. It wasn’t easy getting her up, but once we did so, we led her to the barn. The vet is on the way. She received IV meds as directed by the vet and I’m doing red light therapy on her now. She’s relaxing and is no longer wanting to roll. Please continue to send good thoughts and prayers.
11:24 am
The vet just left, so now, we wait and pray. Aaleyah Belle was tubed and oiled. She is comfortably resting in her stall and is waking up from sedation. Once she is awake, we will do some walking. Please keep the good thoughts and prayers coming. If she becomes painful again, we will be going to the hospital.
3:06 pm
Aaleyah got better but then it hit again out of the blue so we now need prayers to get her on the trailer – she’s refusing to load.
3:55 pm
After much cajoling and praying, Aaleyah is finally in the trailer! More good thoughts and prayers please!!!! There is no one in this whole wide world who could ever convince me that the power of prayer does not work. And I just know that there are Angels walking amongst us who come and go in many forms. Aaleyah is on her way to the hospital at UF.
5:28 pm
Aaleyah settled in at the University of Florida Vet Hospital and is being examined – they will do an ultrasound, bloodworm, rectal, etc. We will update more later.

Timmie’s Mother’s Day Present!
I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day! It’s been a pretty busy day here. But we do have some wonderful news to share – it was a super great Mother’s Day for Timmie and Foxy! They have been adopted and have settled into their forever home with Judy and Bill today!
It’s really exciting – they will be doing some horse agility which I know they will love – especially Foxy!
The girls are less than 15 minutes from the rescue – I love it when they are close by! We’ll post pictures and updates – no worries there! It’s always bittersweet when they leave and I never say good-bye. They are family, always. When they land here, it’s a new start for them. When they leave here for their new home, it’s never ‘The end’ of the story – it’s only a new chapter in their lives!
We are so happy for Timmie and Foxy! I bet they think they are in heaven! No, they don’t live on beautiful grass like this 24/7, although I’m sure they would like to. They do, however, enjoy exploring their new home including the play area.
Timmie’s right eye sustained an injury a couple of days before they went home, but Judy and Bill have been super about taking care of it and keeping us updated. I truly feel the girls are more comfortable in a home of their own where they get more one on one attention. Please send good thoughts to help Timmie’s eye heal quickly.

HELP! Someone Put a Match to It! ASPCA Help A Horse Day Challenge
As we enter the final week before our ASPCA Help A Horse Day/Celebration of Life, a kind and caring donor has offered a most generous Match Game in Memory of Matilda, our sweet and gentle Mammoth Mule, who crossed Rainbow Bridge on Saturday. This $1,000 Match Game will greatly assist with Matilda’s veterinary and burial fees as well as with the everyday care and needs of the Beauty’s Haven herd.
One of the criteria upon which the awarding one of the many grants being offered by the #ASPCA (up to $25K) is based, is determined by the total amount of contributions raised during the month of April. This Match Game, therefore, would truly help our rescue in achieving this most important goal for the horses.
All donations up to $1,000 will be matched ~ $5 will become $10, $10 will become $20 etc.
Each and every donation is truly appreciated and please be assured that no donation is ever considered as being too small.
Donations are tax deductible and can be made via various ways on our website. Our PayPal address is bhfer@earthlink.net. If you mark your donation for ‘Friends or Family’ no fees will be taken out. Please leave a notation that your donation is to be designated to the ‘#HelpsHorse Day Match Game.’
Thank you all for your continued love and support and please share this final challenge amongst family and friends with the hashtags #HelpaHorse and #BeautysHavenEquineRescue.

LOSING MATILDA
[dropcaps]I[/dropcaps] t’s been a tough couple of days. I’m not sure I’m ready to be on social media yet but I want to let everyone know that Matilda left this world with her friend, Little E, and humans that loved her very much by her side. I want to thank Dr. Ted Specht for being such a compassionate person – we appreciate all he’s done for Matilda.
Matilda was treated for her eyelid injury last week by Dr. Specht and Dr. Julia treated her with acupuncture just a few days ago. Matilda seemed to be doing well. And out of the blue endotoxemia struck – it was so unexpected.
I miss Matilda very much – more than words can say.
Matilda runs with Gentleman now, and Solace. We will see them all again, someday. I’d like to ask everyone to keep Little E in your prayers. He appears to be handling it ok but he’s got to be feeling a loss – just as we are.
Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. I haven’t begun to read emails or posts yet but hope to be up for that tomorrow. Again, thank you for caring about this grand old mule – she was worth more than gold. She was loved, very much.
~Theresa
Sweet Matilda Has Crossed the Rainbow Bridge
It is with heavy heart that we must inform you that we suddenly lost Matilda this morning. Please keep Theresa and the entire Beauty’s Haven family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you.

Matilda’s Eye Injury Update
We are happy to report that Matilda’s eye is doing much better! The swelling has gone down a lot – she can actually see out of it!

Matilda’s Eye Injury Update
Matilda, a senior mammoth mule, sustained an injury this morning that looked pretty bad. It was obvious the eye lid was ripped apart but we couldn’t tell if the eye had been injured.
Dr. Specht came out and treated it and, fortunately, the eye is ok.
After 2 hours and over a dozen stitches the injury looks much better – Dr. Specht did a great job!
Now we hope and pray it holds and heals nicely. Matilda will have at least a couple of follow-up visits from the vet and we’ll update on her healing process over the next few days.
It’s been a long day and believe me when I say we’re all ready to call it a day here.
Thank you all for your support!

Emergency of the Eye Kind! Poor Matilda!
We have an emergency of the eye kind! Matilda has ripped her upper eye lid apart and we can’t tell if the eye is damaged – she’s very sensitive about it. We are waiting on vet to come out. Can anyone help with her emergency vet bill? Poor Matilda! Please pray that her eye is ok!
