Ebony & Lily

BREED:  Mini

GENDER:  Mares

Ambassadors Ebony and Lily came to the rescue in January, 2011. Beauty’s Haven rescued a herd of 14 miniature horses. The owner, who had been a breeder of Falabellas, passed away and no provisions had been left for the herd. A family member that lived out of state contacted us (a local veterinarian referred him to us) and asked us to take as many as we could. We would never leave any behind so we took in the entire herd! All of the minis needed everything – dental work, farrier work, deworming, vaccinations, weight gain, etc. Some had locking stifles that were surgically corrected and the seven studs were castrated.

Over time, the minis were assessed (personality, abilities, interests, etc.).  They all had wonderful personalities but Ebony and Lily seemed best suited for therapeutic type programs. A program of this nature has been on our “bucket list” for quite awhile. Many people don’t have the ability to come visit and interact with the minis here at the farm so we want to take a pair of minis to them! We would like to go to convalescing homes, hospitals, schools, etc. and let the minis share the love they have to offer.

Ebony and her daughter, Lily, participate in some of our fundraisers and events – they do a great job interacting with people and spreading smiles! We still intend on establishing a mobile therapeutic program once resources are available. If anyone would be interested in helping to fund this endeavor please let us know!
