The gap is continues to widen between 1st and 2nd place in the #MakeASplash contest. Unfortunately, you have to vote via Facebook. Your vote, once every 24 hours through July 31st is so greatly needed! And what will help even more is if you share amongst family and friends and ask them to vote and share as well.

We CAN do this with your help! We have never been fortunate enough to win anything close to $10,000. Although it is a constant and exhausting struggle trying to raise money and take care of the horses all day long, it is truly worth every moment, knowing that we are making a difference in the life of each and every equine that enters through our gates. We are Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, a place where ‘Life begins, again!’

Please remember to vote daily to help the horses of Beauty’s Haven win $10,ooo!

We appreciate Kylie staying with him last night. We will be on babysitting duty for the next few nights – at least until he’s comfy. I hope his momma is relieved to see how well he is adjusting. Please watch the short video which was taken this morning of Baby Whiskers doing the ‘Cricket Dance” and for those of you who don’t know what a “Cricket Dance” is, well, just watch!

Please remember to vote as we are slowly closing the gap between first and second place! One vote every 24 hours through July 31st may enable us to win this contest! And don’t forget to share amongst family and friends as well. Winning $10K for the horses would help so much. We have never been fortunate enough to win anything close to this amount. Since Bob had his heart attack, things have been a bit more challenging, but thankfully, he’s slowly getting better. However, more of my time is spent working outside which leaves very little opportunity to be at the computer or in the office to plan fundraising activities and elicit donations which have gone down dramatically. We are a small grassroots organization which consists of Bob and I who work 24/7/365, plus a few very special volunteers.  We normally have volunteer help approximately six hours a day, a few days a week. On some days, however, we have no help at all. So please believe me when I say, every vote helps!

Thank you for your support!

I love it when we have good news to share! We are Trophy Line Manely Hair Products “Rescue of the Month!”  We have been using their products for years and they are the absolute best! We use the shampoo, detangler, and conditioner and they are amazing! They are long lasting and work wonders!

Please click here which will take you to the page where you can learn more about how you can help the horses through their company. Consider giving their products a try – I’m serious when I say the products work wonders!  If you don’t have horses or a dog, you can use the products on humans, too, or perhaps consider buying some to donate to the rescue!  I know the horses at the rescue could use some – especially the detangler!  Thank you Trophy Line!

Solace was an older stud that walked away from an illegal backyard slaughter operation in south Florida. He was skin on bones which is likely why he was able to walk away.
Solace Before
Solace made an amazing recovery, but in the end, we lost him to cancer. But the time we had with him was so special – he knew he mattered and that he was loved.
Solace After

Solace’s rehab was made possible due to the generosity of our wonderful village of supporters. We are not funded by local, state, or Federal funds. We operate totally from donations. If you would like to contribute, you may do so via various means on our website: www.bhfer.org or via PayPal: bhfer@earthlink.net.

Please also remember to vote every 24 hours through July 31st to help us win $10K which would enable us to assist other horses like Solace. It’s free and easy! And it would help even more if you would share with family and friends and ask them to vote and share as well.  You do have to have a Facebook account to vote.

Tropical Storm Colin is coming – currently heading on a direct path to the rescue. We are hunkering down and I may be offline much of the time but please remember to vote once everyday. Its a free and easy way to help win $10K for the animals! PLEASE today and everyday through July 31st vote for us! If we were to win this it would help the horses tremendously. So please, vote.  And, sharing out and asking others to vote and share daily, making this go viral, is the ONLY way we can win the contest.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we get through the next couple of days of rough weather hopefully, without incident.  And we will do the same for all of you – stay safe!  Thank you.

Calling it a day here. We’re still a bit tired from all of the activity from Tropical Storm Colin, even though it wasn’t too very bad. Ruby and Cookie wouldn’t allow Little E and Peaches in the shelter so we had to move horses around – it’s just been exhausting. But no complaints – everyone is safe and there is no property damage! But now, I hear there may be another storm on the horizon! I hope that’s a rumor!

Remember Montana?
Montana before

A call to authorities from someone who saw a thin, sad, and not so healthy horse chained to a shed led us to this sweet boy. After a couple of weeks of driving by, seeing his health continually decline, they called authorities. Of course, we would take him. He recovered nicely and is now living a life of luxury.  Montana and others are living the good life now thanks to help from supporters!  We couldn’t do it without you!
Montana Lexi

Her registered name was Point to Ponder. We lovingly called her “My Girl.” She was a young, brave, and beautiful TB that was raced 12 times in 8 months before coming to Beauty’s Haven. I’ll let the short video tell the rest of the story. This was a case that reminded us that sometimes doing what is right means letting go – it may be the greatest gift of love there is….
MyGirl

We’ve helped many horses – all with stories we could share. And all of the help we’ve provided to them was made possible because of our village of supporters. We operate totally from donations from the public. There are many more equines that need help.  We know you can’t always donate – but now there is a free and easy way to help the horses!

We are competing in a contest to win $10K for the horses and we are in 3rd place! It’s a free and easy way to help if you use Facebook! Please help us win this by voting once everyday through July 31st. And what would help, very much, is if you share it out to family and friends and ask them to vote and share as well – this needs to go viral! Post it on multiple media platforms – and ask others to vote and share!  Instructions are below and here is the link to vote. Link to vote:  http://wshe.es/65VvE5f1

Katie visited with Jingle yesterday and was so happy to see him. He’s happy and healthy! With help from our care team, we made all the right decisions for him from the minute we picked him up off the side of the road when he was only 2 to 3 days old and headed to Rainbow Bridge – and it feels good to see the outcome! He beat the odds that were stacked against him – he’s a survivor! Believe!

Jingle has his own human family and Elizabeth and Bri adore him. We’ve been very blessed in many ways – our village of supporters made it all possible. Thank you!

May 21st, 2016

Good morning! I’m rushing out the door but had to stop to post – we need some help with hooficures and coggins. The vet bills have been mounting but I need to sit down and figure out where we are with those. I know Aaleyah Belle’s is covered provided all of the pledges come in. I’ve been offline so much taking care of the horse I didn’t realize how low our funds have dropped. The mower had to go in the shop and will be a $900 repair bill – we keep the grass around Betsy Rose’s paddock short – she chokes and has other issues and should not be on tall grass – really stressed over this one. I’ll try to get in the office today and figure out where we stand with everything but I do know we need help with $200 for hooficures.

Any amount of a donation would be helpful and very much appreciated – no amount is too small. Our PayPal address is bhfer@earthlink.net. If you donate, please note that your donation is for “hooficures.” There are other ways to donate via our website www.bhfer.org. Thank you!

I’m really glad these guys have settled down and are back under their tree that has an overhead mister to help keep them cool and a water bucket. I guess they had never seen ostriches before (there are a pair at the neighbors). It only took about 5 days.  I was so worried they would colic – and we had enough of that with Aaleyah Belle last week.  These guys refused to come up to their water tank so we had to run a long water hose along the ground which got hot in the sun – it was just a mess that made more work.  But hopefully, things are back to normal now.

Sawyer has not had any more seizures, thankfully. He’s not quite himself yet but he’s a bit better each day. It’s suspected that a focal lesion caused his epileptic seizures. His appetite is good, he’s drinking, whinnying at his food, and still loves Lucy.  Sawyer would really appreciate some sponsors to help with his medical needs. If you would like to help, please note that your donation is for “Sawyer”. Thank you.

This is unreal.  I wish the black cloud that is on pause over the farm would move on. Now the other golf cart isn’t working! It appears that we will now be hoofing it along with the horses. This isn’t good.
GreenCartDied

The zero turn mower is in the shop to an estimate of $770 needed in repairs. A motor is needed for one golf cart for about $700. And now the backup golf cart is dead with repair cost to be determined. They all 3 are used to pull the poop spreader, give out hay, etc.  Does anyone have a working golf cart they would like to donate for a great cause and a tax deduction?  Things come in 3’s right? So we’re done? Nothing else will break?

I am happy to report that Sawyer had a comfortable night and a great appetite this morning.  He is most happy when Lucy is with him. I’m not sure happy Lucy is happy being a full-time best friend. But Sawyer gets fed multiple small meals a day and that is when Lucy will be able to go out and play while he eats.

Betsy Rose got her acupuncture treatment yesterday by Dr. Julia. Today, a hooficure by Stephanie. Betsy is doing better but still has a ways to go. I just realized I never posted an update about her X-rays and ultrasound that were done back in April!

[clear]
Dr. Lugo did x-rays and an ultrasound on Betsy Rose when she came to us in June 2013 and found an old fracture in her pelvic area. She was in deplorable shape – she couldn’t even stand and had to live in a sling for the first 2 months after arrival. Her left side was weaker than the right. This past December, Betsy sustained an injury that set her back quite a bit when a vet was treating her for choke. She had to go back in the sling for a couple of weeks due to a tendon/ligament issue. Betsy Rose is fragile, she always will be, due to the severe neglect she endured and how it effected her body. And she is up there in age – 26ish. But she’s a known fighter with a love for life.
[clear]
image028

Betsy was slowly getting better after the December injury but we weren’t comfortable with how slow the progress was and wanted to compare a new set of X-rays/ultrasound to her initial set so Dr. Lugo came back out and did them again. What we learned was that Betsy Rose re-injured the old injury. And with her left back hip/leg an issue, the right one works overtime and she pivots on her left vs using it properly. We hand walk her throughout the days and we walk her over noodles to get her to pick that leg/hip up. The acupuncture treatments help and Betsy gets red light therapy and massage. She would likely benefit from aqua therapy but that’s not an option. Some days she walks off much better than others but most days she’s stiff in that hip/leg and I’m worried about it becoming like a “frozen shoulder” only its a “frozen hip.” Someone suggested a Theraplate but I don’t have any experience with them to know if it would help. Does anyone have experience with a Theraplate?

image023

For those that don’t know Betsy Rose’s story you can read about it starting here: https://bhfer.wordpress.com/2013/06/14/pony-mare-update/. Betsy Rose survived against all odds – she never gave up and she’s encouraged many people in many ways. She’s loved, very much. She believes…

Just a quick update to let you know that Sawyer had a good day. I’m really relieved, and pleased, that he hasn’t had any more seizures.  He did get an acupuncture treatment by Dr. Julia which Lucy tried her best to help with.  lol

[dropcaps]I[/dropcaps] t’s been a tough couple of days. I’m not sure I’m ready to be on social media yet but I want to let everyone know that Matilda left this world with her friend, Little E, and humans that loved her very much by her side. I want to thank Dr. Ted Specht for being such a compassionate person – we appreciate all he’s done for Matilda.

Matilda was treated for her eyelid injury last week by Dr. Specht and Dr. Julia treated her with acupuncture just a few days ago. Matilda seemed to be doing well. And out of the blue endotoxemia struck – it was so unexpected.

We are still in shock – it’s a tragedy. You can never be prepared for something like this.

I miss Matilda very much – more than words can say.

Matilda runs with Gentleman now, and Solace. We will see them all again, someday. I’d like to ask everyone to keep Little E in your prayers. He appears to be handling it ok but he’s got to be feeling a loss – just as we are.

Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. I haven’t begun to read emails or posts yet but hope to be up for that tomorrow. Again, thank you for caring about this grand old mule – she was worth more than gold. She was loved, very much.

~Theresa

Matilda

It is with heavy heart that we must inform you that we suddenly lost Matilda this morning. Please keep Theresa and the entire Beauty’s Haven family in your thoughts and prayers.
