I just wanted to let everyone know that both Legacy and Lady Jane arrived safe and sound at their new homes. Both are doing well.

I’m headed out to the barn. It’s going to be busy – Dr. Julia will be here this am to work on Beauty and check out GMan. We have a couple of visitors coming. Fortunately, I don’t think it will be raining as much today.

Our phone connection (and Internet) is broken but is supposed to be fixed by 9 pm tonight. The connection works for a few seconds and then stops but for the most part it is down. Please visit our Facebook page where there are more updates – I am able to post there from my cell phone: https://www.facebook.com/bhfer.tb/posts/4413061845801#!/bhfer.tb

Ruby, Lady Jane, and Alyse grazing two mornings ago. It’s been really cloudy and we’ve had lots of rain. Looks like much more is coming next week.

Have a blessed day everyone!

Legacy and Lady Jane are on their way to their new homes – Pam pulled out about 45 minutes ago. Legacy is such a big and loveable boy. We’re so proud of him. I talked with Jan (his adoptive mom) last night and she is so very excited. He came to us only a couple of weeks old – hard to believe he’s grown and now gone to a new home. Jan will keep us updated and share pictures. Lady Jane is on her way to Cheryl in Georgia. Lady Jane has labored breathing here with the heat and humidity – we have little shade. There is plenty of shade where she is going and the temps will be much better for her.

Pam takes great care of precious cargo! Lady Jane loaded and looked like “Ok – a new adventure – let’s go!” They were able to leave before the rains arrived this am.

I’ll update again later. Have a blessed day everyone!

Sincerely,
Theresa

The two horses located near Ocala that needed help were picked up and taken to two different homes (thank you Dee, Melissa and Lisa!). The horses were picked up at the same time so that neither would have been left alone for any amount of time. It worked out very well and we are very appreciative to everyone that helped.

The gelding was seen and treated by a vet yesterday – he has COPD and is having a tough time – he could use some prayers. The mare is doing well. Thank you all for caring.

Theresa

We’ve been asked to help with two horses that are located in Weirsdale, FL. Here is what I’ve been told: Both horses are retired finished head and heel horses. One is an 18 yr old sorrel mare (not to be bred). The other is a 20 year old gelding that has respiratory issues. This horse is thin, very thin. The owners are elderly and can’t care for the horses. The horses were abandoned on their property a couple of years ago by a family member and they just can’t afford to continue to provide for them. They would like for them to go together – not necessarily to the same place to live but they don’t want either horse left behind alone.

We will be going to see them tomorrow.

We are taking PLEDGES at this time. If you can offer them a good home or help in any way please email us and put “finished horses” in the subject line.

Thank you – God bless and have a good night everyone.

Dr. Julia Simonson came out this evening to work on Beauty. After assessing her, Dr. Julia opted to do acupuncture and electro stimulation only. Beauty was simply too sore for anything more. After, once the needles were out, it was obvious that Beauty felt a little better. Not great, but somewhat better. She wasn’t as tense. She slowly walked out of her stall and grazed around the barn for a bit. She may have an abscess in her front right that is still being treated. Isn’t she beautiful?

Right now, she’s back in her stall munching on hay – she can come and go as she desires. Hopefully we will see more of improvement tomorrow. Please keep her in prayer – thank you!

I would like to ask for prayers for Beauty. Yesterday morning she was found planted to the ground. She did not want to put weight on her front right. We checked out her feet and cleaned them but didn’t find anything. I gave her some bute and we were able to get her to a stall. I checked her over and she was body sore. I don’t know if she did something in the middle of the night but I didn’t hear any of the horses running or anything. Last year she was injured – she had flipped over backwards and it took over a year to get her back to normal. She has been doing very well until yesterday. We soaked her front right thinking there may be an abscess. Last evening when I took her out of her stall she walked better. She stayed in the round pen last night. This morning I found her planted again. I’ve called a holistic vet to come to work on her. While it is possible she has an abscess that needs to come out, I think something more has happened and she may have reinjured herself – her body is sore to the touch. She isn’t feeling well – she did not even want to eat her breakfast this morning.

It’s because of this lovely mare that Beauty’s Haven got started. She is my heart horse. When she hurts, I hurt. Please keep her in your prayers.

Theresa

We picked a Morgan mare up today. She’s sweet but timid – you can tell she wants to trust. She will come around with a little time. She’s not a big girl, slightly underweight but not bad, her feet need to be trimmed, and she drops her food so her teeth likely need to be done. Her mane has been roached and her tail has been cut short – there’s not much there to swat the flies with but it will grow back over time. She’s reported to be about 20 years young.

She currently has one monthly sponsor – would anyone else like to help her? Any amount would be greatly appreciated and no amount is too small. Good morning! I hope to put out a detailed update about what’s been going here over the past few days but for now here is little bit of news.

Our darling little donkey, Domino, will be going to Pam’s today. She will meet Pam’s donkey and get some needed training. It’s going to be quiet here without this little one – everyone loves Domino! She sure is a hoot! Call her name and she comes running!

Just want to let everyone know that little Starbuck and his mom, Bella, are both doing great! He’s pretty vocal and everyone loves him!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Theresa
