Cisco is feeling better. His lab work came back yesterday and he’s dealing with sand in his gut (he’s been oiled) and a heavy parasite load which we will tackle slowly. He’s such a sweet boy and is just a joy to be around. He’s more active and alert – it’s really great to see!

I’ll get better pictures tomorrow – I spent much of today trying to resolve computer issues – now I’m having camera issues!

Thank you all for keeping Cisco in your prayers.

Sincerely,
Theresa

We were asked a few days ago to help a 20 yr old Clydesdale gelding. He was a rescue – the person that took him in rehabilitated him and he was doing well. But then owner went back to nursing school and found she could no longer afford to care for him. She found him a new home but there was a horse there that decided she didn’t like him. He got beat up pretty bad and when his previous owner found out what happened she took him back but he now needs a home ASAP. We haven’t met him but his owner says he’s very sweet and is low – like at the bottom. We’re told he’s very laid back and is a very nice boy – he just needs to find the right forever home where he won’t be picked on.

Morgan LaFaye went to her new forever home yesterday and Willow will be leaving this coming Wednesday. This frees up some space.

We would like to help this horse but to do that we need sponsors to help with his care. Pam is taking Willow to her new home on Wednesday – this Clyde is close to her destination so Pam could pick him up on the way back and bring him to the rescue. Would anyone like to help us to help this handsome boy?

If anyone would like to help with a one time donation or sign up to be a monthly sponsor please email me at bhfer. No amount is too small and all donations are tax deductible. God bless and thank you!

PS – Morgan seems very happy in her new home with her new best friend!

Sincerely,

Theresa

Dr. Ryan tubed and oiled Cisco. Blood work was done. He thinks Cisco is just gassy. Cisco has passed poop a few times today. He’s going to stay in a stall for awhile so we can monitor his water intake, etc. He’s such a good boy about everything. I would love to know about his past. He’s got beautiful, wise, and kind eyes.

I am going to dinner with my son at the AMVETS but Bob, Kylie, and Barbara are here. I won’t be gone long and I’ll have my cell phone with me. I don’t get out much and when Joshua asked me to go I said “Yes!” I’ll update again tonight though. Maybe I can get my camera to communicate with my computer and post better pictures.

Thank you all for saying prayers for Cisco. He’s a gem!

Sincerely,
Theresa

We’ve kept a close eye on Cisco all morning. He ate his breakfast just fine – a mushy meal. But after breakfast he trotted over to the shade of the tree by my office and laid down – he just didn’t seem right. He didn’t look painful but I talked with Dr. Ryan anyway and gave Cisco some Banamine. Cisco then got up and grazed and walked around. He ate some of his soupy lunch but didn’t finish it. And then he went down again. We got him up and he got a good bath and is now in a stall with the fans on him. He’s down again. Dr. Ryan is on his way. He’s drinking and passing poop. Please say a prayer for him. Sorry the picture is so bad. My camera and computer are still not talking to each other correctly.

Sincerely,

Theresa

I just received a beautiful card from the wonderful team of caregivers at UF about the loss of Ambrosia. She truly was surrounded by people that loved her. She touched so many hearts.

My mare, Beauty, is my aromatherapy – her smell calms me like nothing else can. Well, Ambrosia did the same. I miss her. I miss her smell, her little whinnies, everything about her. Maybe someday I can talk about her without getting tears in my eyes.

Ambrosia would make anyone having a bad day feel good. She was just that kind of mare. Thank you all for caring about her.

Good morning everyone! It’s another busy day here. We have a family coming to meet Baby Girl! Oh gosh the thought of her ever leaving here is a very tough one.

Lace and Blackie will be looking for a home soon – two very nice horses. Lace is APHA registered and Blackie is AQHA registered. These are two very nice horses!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Having a rainstorm here and need to get to the barn but here are a couple pictures of Cisco today that I took with my cell phone. He’s an absolutely wonderful Halflinger gelding – very, very sweet.

I have more pictures that I took when Dr. Ryan came today but my camera isn’t working tonight so I’ll have to try again tomorrow – could be the battery. Have a good night everyone!

Theresa

Patty was adopted, but circumstances changed for her adoptive family and Patti now needs to find a forever home, fast. She is a 4 year old dun and white splash overo and she is up to date on everything. She is deaf. She was born deaf because of the lethal white gene. She has never been unhealthy or unsound. She can be ridden by an experienced rider as she did have 90 days of professional training. She has good ground manners and is not jumpy or spooky.

This is what her current adoptive mom says about her:

"She has ground manners, and stands well for the farrier. She is also very low on the chain of herd command. She does not like her mouth to be touched at all, the vet had a hard time trying to look at her teeth for her age. She LOVES people. When we walk outside to the pasture, she nickers and comes right over to the fence. I haven’t noticed any vices at all. She loves to be pampered as well. She is SUPER sweet (I can’t emphasize that enough). She will put her head in your hands and literally fall asleep."

Thanks to Jenny and Pamela (Double B Transport) our little Haffie is here – I’m calling him Cisco. Cute little older guy – he’s underweight and has a horrible mouth but he’s in great spirits. And many thanks to hubby, Bob, too. He’s just now heading home. He had to wait at the truck for AAA to show up. I’ll get more pictures tomorrow.

We have received enough funds to pick the pony up and bring him to the rescue and to cover first months expenses!

We’re still looking for sponsors for monthly care. I’ll update once he’s here and settled in.

Thank you!
