A Match Game in Honor of Theresa’s Birthday!

In honor of Theresa’s birthday, two very dear friends and supporters have joined together to offer a Match Game whereby all donations up to $700 will be matched dollar for dollar!

Theresa’s wish this year, is, once again, to benefit the horses at Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc. Many are sanctuary horses with special needs and their care is more costly than that of an average, healthy horse. The items at the top of Theresa’s wish list include Prascend (227 mg, 180 ct), Previcox (160 ct), APF-Pro (946 ml) and Equishield SA (two 2 lb. containers) at a total cost of $1375. All donations toward these needs will be so greatly appreciated by both horses and humans alike.

If you would like to make Theresa’s birthday wish come true, while doubling your donation at the same time, you may do so by forwarding your contribution via our secure Donations Page. You can also donate via PAYPAL and if you select the tab, ‘Send Money to Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. Please note that your contribution is for the’Birthday Match Game.’ Please be assured that all donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small. If you’re not in a position to donate at this time, we truly understand, but you can still help by sharing this message via social media!

Thank you to our very special Match Game sponsors and to each and every one of you for your continued love and support.

Hi everybody – it’s me, JoJo! Me and my friends were worried when Mommy Theresa had to go to the doctor last week – she got sick from food poisoning. She feels better but we still want to do something to help her to help us! Caring for us is a BIG responsibility!

We brainstormed to come up with a way to raise money on a regular basis that will help provide for our hay, grain, supplements, and other things we need. If we can build a base of consistent support, it would help a lot! Mommy Theresa stays super busy all day and into the night – that’s why she doesn’t send out many updates anymore even though she wants to. We think that because of this, donations are down and that’s not good at all.

So guess what we came up with? We created a club in memory of Betsy Rose to help! So won’t you join our “Strive for Five Club?” It’s super easy! Just go to the link below and sign up to give a recurring monthly donation of $5 (or more). If you can’t join at this time, it’s okay, but will you please share this out so maybe others can help us? Our goal is to get at least 2500 recurring monthly subscribers of at least $5! That sounds like a big goal, I know, but Mommy Theresa has 5000 “Friends” on her Facebook Page and we have over 8000 “Likes” on our Facebook Business Page. If we all try really hard, I believe we can do it! So just click on STRIVE FOR FIVE to become part of our club!

Thanks everyone! And thank you Aunties Karen and Sandra for visiting us and for all of your help and ideas!

Hi Everyone,

Theresa was at the doctor most of the afternoon as she is experiencing some issues and she will most undoubtedly, be ‘off the grid’ for several days. She asked that I post a fundraiser on her behalf for our weekly hay and farrier needs, so hopefully, funds can be raised quickly, which will truly ease her mind.

In order to get through the week, we need four bales of peanut hay ($64) for Mo who is doing wonderfully and has already gained sixty pounds! The minis will need five bales of coastal hay ($40), a number of the big horses need three big compressed bales of orchard hay ($300), and the remainder of the herd need a ton of three string orchard bales ($610), for a total of $1,014. In addition, several horses are scheduled for their hooficures next week which will cost an additional $125, so the combined amount for both hay and farrier needs is $1,139.

We do have some good news, however, as a wonderful friend and supporter has just come forth to offer a MATCH GAME, whereby, all donations up to $400 will be matched!

If you would like to participate in the Match Game, you may do so by making a one-time tax-deductible donation, or sign up to make an automatic monthly recurring donation (which you can cancel at any time) via our secure WEBPAGE. You also have the option of dedicating your donation in Honor or Memory of someone. Another way to donate is via Network for Good or JustGiving – links which can be found on our ‘DONATE’ page together with our snail mail address. You can also donate via PAYPAL and if you select the tab, ‘Send Money to Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. Please note that your contribution is for the ‘Match Game.’ Please be assured that all donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small. If you’re not in a position to donate at this time, we truly understand, but you can still help by sharing out this message via social media!

Please keep Theresa in your prayers and thank you all, for your love and support!

Warmly,
Jeanne

Introducing Yertle, one of our latest rescues that was found in one of our paddocks.

“All mine!” Yertle cried. “Oh, the things I now rule! I’m king of the ‘horses!’ And I’m king of a mule!” ~ Dr. Seuss

Needless to say, Yertle was not king of the horses for very long! We took him down the road to a safe pasture with a small pond as he surely, would have been trampled by the horses had he remained in the paddock.

“Mommy Theresa if you look at the time on your phone, I’ll bet it’s about a minute before lunchtime. That’s just enough time for you to get my lunch and be back here on time for the noon delivery!” Little E is one smart little horse!

Betsy Rose always enjoyed grazing in the morning sun. What a perfect day it was! We will forever be thankful for the time we had with her.

So thankful for family!

SUCCESS!

Our Mower Fundraiser was a complete success thanks to the generosity
of each and every one of you!

ALMOST THERE!

We are almost there in our ‘Beauty of the Heart’ fundraiser with just $1433 needed to achieve our goal! We would love to wrap this up by the end of the month so please consider a donation and/or share amongst family and friends. Donations may be forwarded via gofundme, via various means on our website or via PayPal: bhfer@earthlink.net. All donations are greatly appreciated and no donation is ever too small.

Because of our wonderful little village of supporters, we are able to continue our most important mission of granting our beloved equines, as well as other precious beings, a second chance at life, which they all so truly deserve.

Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc., is truly, a place where, ‘Life Begins, Again!’

We have a bit of a serious issue…

The mower broke and while the paddocks look beautiful and the horses and donkeys are happy, there’s simply too much grass! Long grass puts equines at risk for founder which is the last thing any of them need. Bugs are more plentiful and it also puts horses at risk for eye issues, scratches, etc. I’ve included some photos of what a simple grass seed pod can do – JoJo and Beauty have both had eye injuries from grass seed pods. Eye injuries are uncomfortable for the horse/donkey and we humans have to treat the eye several times a day, 24/7. Prevention saves a lot of stress, discomfort, time and money.

JoJo says he has a fix and the paddocks don’t need to be mowed, but they really do – the sooner the better! The cost for the mower repairs is $1421. Of this, $770 has already been raised which leaves a balance of $651. I know we keep asking for help (which I don’t like to do) but we operate totally from donations. If you can’t help financially, we completely understand, but you can still help by sharing this out – invite people to our website and Facebook pages where they can learn about us – perhaps they may even be able to help!

Please consider a tax deductible donation to assist with this emergency. Donations can be made via various means on our website at bhfer.org/donate or via our PayPal address bhfer@earthlink.net. If donating via PayPal, please designate your donation for ‘Mower,’ and if you select the tab for ‘Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. Our PayPal.me account is paypal.me/bhfer. All donations are greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small.

On behalf of our ‘Velvet Nosers,’ thank you, all, from the bottom of our hearts!

The really long grass is beautiful but it’s something none of the horses and donkeys need as grass seed pods can cause eye injuries and grass can cause founder.

A mower is essential to keep the paddocks safe for the horses and donkeys.

JoJo has his own idea…

“Wait! Please stop! You don’t need to mow because all of us donkeys and horses will take care of it by eating it!”

Bob is still recuperating from open heart surgery but he’s looking forward to getting back to work.

JoJo had an eye injury caused by a long piece of grass that became lodged under his lower eyelid.

You could clearly see the injury once Dr. Ted stained it.

Beauty also experienced an eye issue a few years ago. Dr. Ryan, upon examination, discovered a seed pod stuck in her eye, but even after removal, the damage had already been done.

Beauty’s ulceration had to be treated several times a day around the clock, but sadly, her eye remains permanently scarred.

July 22nd, 2018

Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers! It’s been a long, very long, couple of days. I apologize for not updating sooner but believe me when I say, I have been run ragged. Bob’s open heart surgery to repair his aortic aneurysm went well – they had to do a single bypass too. So, it was a bit more than originally expected. There were a couple of bumps coming out of anesthesia, and he had a bad reaction to an antibiotic, but once we got him through that, everything started to improve. Bob has really amazed everyone! He walked the halls today and had three meals!

When I left him today, both of our kids were arriving and they couldn’t believe how good he was doing either. We’re all very much relieved and looking forward to him coming home in just a couple of days. I have to say the surgeon, his team, and everyone at North Florida Cardiac Vascular ICU is amazing. I did stay at the hospital last night and have had no sleep so I’m headed to bed very soon. I’m really looking forward to sleep! Again, thank you all very much!
