Betsy Rose must be feeling better. She totally did not want her oral meds this morning and decided to take a few steps backwards while pushing her sling about 2′ down the aisleway!
Betsy Rose really enjoyed her outing this afternoon. It was the longest walk we’ve taken her on. We stopped many times for her to rest. It seemed to perk her up and she grazed a bit. She enjoyed seeing other horses. She’s napping really good right now.
Betsy Rose – a hero in every sense of the word!
The day Betsy Rose arrived she could not stand. She was very close to Rainbow Bridge. But I felt an energy from her – she had heart and a will to live. I asked for prayers for her and many came. I believed then and I believe now – miracles do happen. No matter what the outcome, I believe Betsy Rose found her way to us for a reason. Thank you all for not giving up on Betsy Rose and on us.

Celesta got to go out for a few minutes today.

Mo is stunning! He’s a very smart, funny, and friendly Arabian gelding that is looking for a forever home!

Adora Needs Prayers Monday Update
Adora appeared to be colicing earlier today so Dr. Ryan was called to come out to Beauty’s Haven.
Dr. Ryan believes that Adora has an impaction.
She has been tubed and oiled and is currently resting in her stall. She is drinking and that’s a very good thing.
Adora in March – the day she arrived. She was terribly thin.
Dr. Bess did her teeth following her arrival – her mouth was a mess.
She had three loose teeth causing much discomfort whenever she tried to eat.

Both little mares are looking for homes.

Weekend Update – It Was A Busy One!
July 8th, 2013
Betsy Rose this morning after another meal. Freckles is always with her. Rest and food is what she needs. And some exercise. She gets walked throughout the day.
Trying to convince Betsy Rose she needs a nap is getting harder to do! At the end of this conversation Betsy Rose ended up talking Barbara into giving her an apple. Freckles could not believe it!

A hot and humid day. Kylie is mowing and I love the smell of freshly cut grass. I wish all of the paddocks were this green.

No worries. I got all the babies tucked in stalls just in time and Barbara kept them busy – it was dinner time. But we ended up only getting a little rain. Yesterday when the storms hit I got drenched. I couldn’t get a window to Harvey’s stall closed. The window got fixed today.

Betsy Rose, Freckles, Little E, Mini’s and More

Betsy Rose and Freckles had a great night. At 2 am Kitty Cat was sitting on the corner of the sling looking up at Freckles (she’s out of reach) and the 3 of them seemed to be having a conversation. LOL!
Betsy Rose loves her meals and Freckles is always close by!
Siesta time for Betsy Rose and Freckles!
Betsy Rose is up to about 251 lbs from about 245! This is really good! It doesn’t sound like much but it is. It took her body some time to start absorbing nutrients – her gut was irritated by a lot of sand she had ingested. She is being fed a diet she can actually eat. And she was so weak I’m sure she burned needed calories easily struggling to get up when she was down. Baby steps are good.
It’s really great to see Celesta out laying in the grass!

Celesta’s X-rays and blood work look good! Dr .Lugo gave the thumbs up to get out of the stall!

Freckles was made with a lot of love and sent to Betsy Rose to keep her company and to encourage her to continue to believe!

Sunday Update – Betsy Rose & Harvey
Just a couple of weeks ago – too weak to even stand. She is doing remarkably well.
Betsy Rose still tires easily. We were changing her bedding when she decided to nap on Bob’s shoulder.
But she’s perky too and always very interested in what’s going on around her!
Sorry the picture is bad quality – we were having a bad storm and I think I was rushing to close a window.
But look how big Harvey is getting! He’s doing great!
