Jazzy chasing JoJo? That’s a first!

Delaney and his favorite horse, Cookie.

Beautiful Donovan.

Poor Betsy Rose just about jumped out of her skin. Someone shot a gun.

Bella Update from Wisconsin ~ ‘Bella had a farrier appt today and is doing so well! She loves the snow and is getting really fluffy! She has been running around quite a bit in the new snow.’

November 13th

Does anyone know of any Appaloosa groups where we could possibly post Bryce and Serenity? They need a home and we need help networking them. Serenity is registered and Bryce is her son. They are VERY nice horses. Serenity is trained to ride and Bryce is ready to learn.

November 14th

Magic always makes you feel good. He’s just a happy go lucky horse.

Betsy Rose napping. So sweet.

November 15th

The Berrettini Yard/Tack sale was held on Saturday. Marie, Jamie, Eva, Delaney, and Kenny manned our tables – we have lots of nice tack, blankets, household items, and other items for sale. All proceeds go to the horses! Many thanks to these wonderful volunteers for their dedication, time, and hard work! And thank you to everyone that donated the items to sell and many thanks to the folks at Berrettini too! https://www.facebook.com/berrettinifeedspecialist.

"Come on up Jazzy! This porch is much easier for you to get down – only one step!"

"Shhhhhhhhhhhh mommy Theresa! I’m playing hide and seek with Jazzy and JoJo!"

Jazzy and Duke have become friends.

Mini here, mini there, mini everywhere! Ebony, Lily, CaryLou, and in the background Jazzy and JoJo.

November 16th

I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time yesterday when Mishka ran around in all his glory in the main paddock. He so very much reminds me of our Gentleman. Mishka enjoys his new freedom now that he is in the main paddock. I didn’t get it on video but he literally jumped high straight up in the air and did the cricket dance! Watching him meet Little E and Matilda was really special to me.

Donovan and Mishka meeting yesterday. They are about the same height but are of different builds/frames. Mishka taped in at about 1430 lbs when he arrived. Donovan tapes at just over 1850 lbs. Donovan being a Percheron/Shire cross and Mishka being a Percheron. They are both magnificent and very sweet. Standing between them yesterday, well, I’ll just say "I could feel the power" and it was breathtaking!

Mishka venturing out into the main paddock yesterday for the first time. He’s a gentle soul.

Don’t let his good looks fool you – he is thin and with very little muscle.

Matilda – another very sweet soul that is adored.

The trio greeting Delaney yesterday as I was toting clean towels to the barn.

I don’t know why Lucy was making faces at CaryLou but it was hilarious!

It’s very seldom you find the boys napping.

November 17th

Some serious storms happening and we are under a tornado watch. Hard freeze warning for tomorrow night. Strange weather.

Thank you all for your continued love and support.

Magic – our beautiful 15 year young Arabian stallion that will live out his life here.

As beautiful and lovable as ever – Betsy Rose.

Eva Ponko and Josh spending some time with Athena today.

November 9th

One of the most wonderful places to be. Yes, I took 5 minutes out of my busy day on Friday to ride. Didn’t go far but it was very refreshing!

This is Katherine and Barbara today. Katherine is a student at UF and has been with us for 3+ years. Barb has been with us 5+ years and is on our BOD. Thank you ladies, very much, for all you do!

It’s not unusual to find the boys waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs by the office. I have to be careful so they don’t see me at the door – JoJo won’t hesitate to come up to greet me. But then the issue is getting him down safely. LOL! They are adorable – quite the pair! Jazzy is really coming out of his shell. It’s great to see!

Jazzy stood there for over ten minutes "conversing" with the sprinkler – or perhaps he was practicing Karaoke? Silly donk.

These boys, gotta love them!

I spent 1.5 hours yesterday getting the tangles out of Magic’s mane which is naturally curly. He’s a very special horse.

I let Lily and Ebony out of their paddock today so they could run and play around the house. They had a blast!

And the boys went exploring in the mini mare’s paddock while the mini mares went out to play around the house. Triple trouble!

November 10th

Just wanted to get on here long enough to apologize for not responding to PM’s, emails, calls, etc. today – I got held up in a couple of doctor appointments in Gainesville today and didn’t get back to the farm until late. Thanks to everyone who helped us get the refill for the fly mister system at the barn – it’s been ordered!

"Following the leader…"

November 11th

Mishka – he’s such a sweet horse.

All played out…

No matter how heavy the burden on your shoulders may feel – even just a few minutes with Betsy Rose will help you to feel better.

Rayo – he’s so loved!

Remember Cisco and Tia and Tess? They are loving life with their adoptive family!

Serenity and Bryce just don’t understand why they haven’t found a forever home yet. And I can’t explain it to them because I don’t understand it either. They are registered Appaloosa’s and are very nice horses. Serenity is ready for trails and Bryce is ready to be started.

We are looking for an adoptive or foster home for Amber with someone that can work with her and train her. She’s a 6 year old Tennessee Walker Horse – registered name is Truehearts Majic Starlite. She will make a fine horse for the right person. She’s just out to pasture here – she needs a home and a job. Natural horsemanship methods only. Adoption fee waived to approved home.

Thank you all for your continued love and support.

Who would like to buy a bale of hay ($15) for a horse? We need to buy a ton which should last us through the weekend. The larger paddocks just got their large 700 lb. bales but the smaller paddocks and barn horses need the smaller bales. A ton is $595. Yes, it is expensive but no, it’s not high for this area of the country. Would anyone like to sponsor a bale or more? Credits can be called directly into the hay store at 352-867-8333. Donations can be made via our PayPal account to bhfer@earthlink.net or via various methods on our website at https://bhfer.org/donate.cfm. We are a GFAS verified, all volunteer organization that operates totally from donations from the public. We do not receive funds from any local, county, state, or federal government sources. The cool temps are here and the grass is not growing – please help us keep hay before the horses. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Theresa

November 2nd

Cookie got a some pampering from Elizabethand Bri today! Cookie stays in a stall on sunny days because of her pink skin and history of cancer. She’s a survivor!

Betsy Rose ran away when Eva went to remove her blanket this am. Betsy is pretty opinionated and knows she gets to do as she pleases!

Mishka will be getting vetted tomorrow.

The boys are getting more comfortable with each other, although I do still find JoJo just standing there staring at Jazzy sometimes. lol

November 3rd

Dr. Julia is here to examine and treat Attagirl. She’s had diarrhea and we’ve done a few things to help, but nothing has worked. She’s going to be oiled.

November 4th

Good morning everyone! It will be a very busy day here again! Dr. Julia will be here shortly to examine Mishka – we ran out of time last night because of Attagirl and Princess. Dr. Bess Darrow is coming to work on Betsy Rose, Mishka, and a couple of others.

We brought Donovan up to the barn last night to check out/treat his boo boo’s which are much better – I hopped a ride! It was a nice treat!

Peaches and Dr. Bess Darrow this morning.

This is what Dr. Bess found when she asked Mishka to smile this morning! Mishka has an extra upper incisor which had pushed other teeth sideways. Dr. Bess leveled them up and did quite a bit of other work in his mouth. He’s much happier now and he absolutely loves his hay!

JoJo loves hanging out on our porch. He can easily climb up the stairs but he has difficulty getting down! Last time he took a flying leap and scared me half to death! I think we need a ramp. Anyone got a ramp to spare?

Calling it a day here – so glad these boys are paling around. Everyone needs a BFF!

November 5th

JoJo and Jazzy helping Kylie this evening. Jazzy is feeling better and it’s starting to show.

Please share out Amber – she needs a home! She’s a 6 yr old registered TWH ready for training.

November 6th

JoJo needs to learn to share his humans with Jazzy. It will take a little time for it all to sort out but it will. They were running around playing with CaryLou this evening – I could just picture all 3 of them following me up the stairs. lol

Cookie loves to make faces!

Little E is as sweet as ever.

Mishka has settled in really nice. I’ll update tomorrow on his lab work and what we’ve learned.

It was a beautiful day today. It started it out with a photographer coming out to take pictures of Marie for an article that I believe will be published next month in an Ocala magazine. Sadly, I had to work in the office most of today. This time change has us all messed up.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and thank you for your continued love and support.

Theresa

It was blistery cold but busy day here. Lots of hooficures done today – we kept Ola and Laura busy! Cookie was one of the lucky ones.

Alexis held horses for Ola. This was Ebony being trimmed and Lily waiting for her turn.

And this is Alexis holding CaryLou.

Kim held horses for Laura. This is Princess getting ready for her hooficure.

Bryce got a hooficure today too. It really is a shame that he and Serenity haven’t found a forever home. They are registered Appaloosa’s – very nice horses. I love the look Bryce was giving the camera. Lol

Betsy Rose’s coat "poofed" out last night – she got a hooficure today too.

Peggy Sue also poofed out last night – most of the horses did. The temps went below 40! And tonight is even colder.

Karol helped me give Mishka a much needed bath yesterday. He’s big – really big. He’s thin and has some skin issues. His tail was docked so very short and he has no mane. His ears have no hair and are raw on the inside. He will be getting a full physical on Monday and a hooficure on Friday. Dr. Bess Darrow will be here on Tuesday to do some dental work. If anyone would like to become a monthly sponsor for this sweet boy, it would be so greatly appreciated.

Boys come look at your gifts – there is one for each of you!" Jazzy was certainly interested but JoJo, well, he just kept on walking. He knows what a box looks like with a new flymask in it. lol

Whoop whoop! Go Jazzy!

JoJo and Jazzy – slowly but surely they are becoming friends. JoJo is having a little trouble adjusting to sharing the attention he gets from humans. He still looks at Jazzy like he has no clue what a donkey is sometimes! Silly long ears! Love them!

And our precious rescue dog, Presley, all snuggly in his pajamas. Lol

Have a great week, everyone, and thank you for your continued love and support.

October 30th

Jazzy got a bath today. He was full of briars, rainrot, and crud. I did the best I could but we will have to continue to work on it. His skin is sensitive in spots because of the rainrot. The tea tree treatment should help. The barn feels quite empty without Victoria. I missed her good morning whinnies. I miss her.

Jazzy survived his bath today. I know he has to feel much better. It’s sad to think a baby like this could have so much crud and rain rot. He tags along with Betsy Rose some and is getting more comfortable with humans. The boys will be playing together tomorrow.

“JoJo you have a new brother – his name is Jazzy! He’s not used to being handled by us humans very much. I want you to be nice to him and help him to relax. Tomorrow y’all can play together, ok?”
JoJo didn’t really respond so I’m not sure what’s going on inside his beautiful little brain. We’ll find out tomorrow.

October 31st

JoJo and Jazzy got to spend some time together today. I didn’t realize that JoJo would be like Velcro with me around Jazzy! When he first approached Jazzy, it was like he had no clue that Jazzy was another donkey – he was bewildered!

“Mommy Theresa – I don’t understand. Is this a trick or treat?”
Silly boy! I reminded him that he was the one that had been sad because he didn’t have a donkey friend. So, we got him a donkey friend that needed a home. It was perfect for everyone!

JoJo couldn’t believe it – watching him trying to process all of this was simply incredible! JoJo seemed to think for a few minutes and then asked me if he’d have to share his humans with Jazzy and, of course, I explained that he would. Then of all things – he wanted to know if Jazzy would have to wear a flymask too! I explained that Jazzy isn’t used to be handled by humans yet but that he will, eventually, have his own flymask to wear too. Speaking of flymasks, I realized JoJo wasn’t wearing his.

It took awhile but JoJo finally ventured away from my side. But he stayed between me and little Jazzy. I’m not sure that Jazzy is twice as old as JoJo – he is smaller. I’d say they are very close to being the same age. They finally calmed and started to graze, sort of. JoJo was still on “alert” while I left them alone for a bit while I went to get his flymask.

It was really super cute – it was almost as though JoJo thought he was looking into a mirror and didn’t believe there could possibly be another like him on this planet. LOL

I guess Jazzy had enough of JoJo looking at him like he had green ears or something and decided to run after JoJo. It caught JoJo off guard. It was so funny – it was out of the blue and JoJo just took off and had a look on his face like he couldn’t believe Jazzy had the nerve to chase him! LOL

By the end of the day, they had settled and I found them grazing together. They are sharing a stall and pumpkins tonight. Yep, they both have their own pumpkins! JoJo will help Jazzy calm around humans, I’m sure. And so, a new chapter begins.

And guess what trick or treat present the boys will find hanging outside of their stall in the morning? LOL!!!!

CaryLou thought he was king of the trailer – he had the whole thing to himself! The “kids” play on it like it’s a playground. LOL

“Mommy Theresa come look! It wasn’t me! CaryLou is the one that keeps pulling things out of the golf cart and dropping them on the ground! I told him to stop it or we might both get in trouble but he won’t listen! He says we’re too cute to get into trouble – is he right?”

And lastly, meet Mishka (means Teddy Bear), our newest arrival at Beauty’s Haven. He’s a sweet soul that needed a place to land. I’ll update more about him on Saturday – we’ve still lots to do at the barn tonight. It’s going down to 40 degrees and I have to dig out a couple of blankets while Bob is taking big bales of hay down to the lower paddocks. Would anyone like to help sponsor Mishka? He was on his way to auction when we intercepted him. He is thin and has no mane and he has a lot of sores on his body. His poor ears have no hair – they are swollen and raw. He needs a physical (including bloodwork), farrier and dental treatments.

Sincerely,

Theresa

Victoria Has Her Wings

‘When we think of those companions who traveled by our side down life’s road, let us not say with sadness that they left us behind, but rather say with gentle gratitude that they once were with us.’ ~ Author Unknown

This type of post is the hardest for me – this year has been a very tough one to say the least. I don’t know how much more a heart can break but mine is hurting terribly. Victoria has joined Gentleman and the rest of our beloved herd who have passed before her at Rainbow Bridge at 5:00 pm last evening. Although she tried and we’ve tried, this was one hurdle we simply could not get past – at least on this earth. But now, she is running happy and carefree, without pain. We love this mare so much. She’d been through some really tough times before coming here but her rehab went great and she grew strong. Watching her run with a fiery look in her eye that said she loved life was simply breathtaking. We had just put her up for adoption a couple of weeks before she took an indirect lightening strike in July that left her with issues in her back end. She tried keeping a lot of her weight on her front end. We were surprised she didn’t colic or founder and we thought she was out of the woods but then she did took a turn for the worse. X-rays revealed a rotation in her left foot and she abscessed in both. While the right improved significantly, the left got worse. Between the back end issues and issues in both front feet it had just become too much.

Arabians are tough – Victoria had the heart of a champion and she would have continued to fight this battle until she simply could not go on anymore, but we just could not allow her to suffer. I sat with her yesterday afternoon and talked with her, prayed with her, and I just listened. As the answer came, so did the tears – it isn’t what we wanted but it was time to let her run pain free – we loved her enough to let her go. Letting go was the last act of love we could give her. I do try hard to not cry until after they cross – I always want our last moments together to be positive and good. But with Victoria, well, she knew how I was feeling inside and hiding my tears wouldn’t have done any good.

Run with the angels Victoria – you have earned your wings. We love you, always!

Sincerely,

Theresa

It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that our beloved Genesis has crossed Rainbow Bridge due to colic. Please keep his human mom, Jenny, and all of those that loved him in your thoughts and prayers. He will be greatly missed.

JoJo has been a bit depressed during the past few days and we felt that he really needed a long eared friend to play with, so please meet Jazzy, who arrived earlier today.

Jazzy checking out her stall.

Jazzy hasn’t been handled. Well, I did give her a halter lesson upon arrival. Not sure she likes it but she’s calmed enough to start munching on hay.

"Are you my new mommy? How come you keep calling me Jazzy? Is that my name? I’ve never had a name before. I think I like it!"

"It’s ok Jazzy – this is Dr. Julia. She’s a doctor that’s really cool and she just wants to check you out to make sure you’re healthy. She’s needs to get a little blood and it might sting for just a second but I’ll hold you – you don’t have to be afraid. We would never be hurt – you’re precious and part of our family now!"

Jazzy was a bit tired after her exam. Today was a pretty big day for this little one. Everything is new to her. I can’t wait for her to meet JoJo and the others. JoJo hasn’t really seen her yet – he’ll meet her in a few days.

"I think I’ll like it here. The humans are nice. I keep hearing them talk about JoJo. I’m not sure who or what a JoJo is but mommy Theresa says not to worry – I’ll find out sooner than later. And she says I have lots of human aunties and uncles – wow! I never thought I’d have a human family – this is exciting! Oh! Oh my gosh guess what I saw pass by??? A HUGE long ears! HUGE!!! I think her name is Matilda. I’ve never seen another long ears that big! I mean, she is HUGE! She got what they called a hooficure today. I wonder if I’ll ever get one of those. Did I mention that Matilda is HUGE?!"

Jazzy calmly accepting human touch after things settled down. She seemed surprised to find out that she LOVES to be scratched at the base of her neck! She’s settled in well but she does need to drink a bit more. Thank you to everyone that made this possible! Jazzy is about 6 months old – older than JoJo. They look almost the same size though. I can’t wait for them to become friends!

Have a great night, everyone!

Theresa

October 17th

Victoria says "Good morning!"

I wish I could say that Victoria is doing great but I can’t. But I can say, she had an ok day. IDK what tomorrow may bring – it’s one day at a time with her. Please keep her in your prayers.

CaryLou thinks he won the hay lottery! LOL

October 18th

Kylie is usually here before the sun comes up on Saturdays. By the time the sun is out, tummies are full.

Today is Hooficure Day!

October 19th

Handsome had another abscess pop in his right front over the weekend. On Saturday Kylie went to get him for Ola to work on and he was only wearing one of his SoftRide boots – he had been wearing both of them at breakfast. Kylie went back out and looked all over for the missing boot – it was nowhere to be found.

We then decided to look once more and guess where we found it? Handsome had TOSSED it over the fence onto the OTHER side of the road! Never a dull day here – this boy has quite the personality!

Victoria being pampered by Katherine.

While Donovan still isn’t 100% yet he is much better. His sweating continues to be sporadic – it’s a good thing cooler temps are coming. Many of the horses like to play in the sprinklers. Bob is always having to fix them. LOL

Kathy helping feed in the morning a few days ago – it was great to see you Kathy! Little E got his cookies!

October 20th

Handsome in the morning sun.

Please help us find Amber a home! She’s a registered 6 yr old TWH that is very sweet.

JoJo has seemed a bit down at times these past few days. He didn’t care to eat his breakfast this am – his temperature has been normal. He’s been staying off to himself a bit when he is turned out around the house which is where CaryLou and Lucy are. He seems better when he’s in the barn. Maybe he’s just wanting a bit more attention. He was munching on Victoria’s forage when I came up to the house this evening. When I left him at the barn it seemed like he wanted to tell me something – he was wearing his flymask so I don’t know it’s not about that.

Barbara came up for the weekend – the weather was perfect! This is Barb trying to convince Handsome to stand still for just a few minutes.

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY LEGACY! Thank you Jan for giving him the kind of life he so very much deserves – he is SO loved! This is Legs eating his birthday cake!

Yesterday was a really nice day and some horses got a much needed bath. This is Serenity – we are going to have Dr. Julia palpate her this coming week just to make sure she isn’t pregnant. She was the worst out of many horses we took in this past January – she was going to be shot because she was in such bad shape. She has not gone into estrus since she has been with us and we’re just seeing a couple of things that make us wonder. She’s such a sweet mare and has come a long way!

Remember Lace? I love to see our horses making others smile! Well, Lace and Mackenzie are both smiling – and they should be! What a great accomplishment – they placed 4th in Showmanship this weekend! Congratulations girls!

Remember Magnum? He’s doing great! I just love to see our horses bring smiles to others!

October 13th

I was informed tonight that we have been entered into the new Fall 2014 Shelter Challenge that just started today! So, here we go – please vote daily and help the horses! It’s over on 11/23/14 and the 1st place winner gets $500!

October 14th

Matilda in the morning.

Eva and Magic cleaning up his paddock. He’s "selectively comfortable" around some humans – he picks and chooses. Some can rub his face, some his neck, and some can even scratch his withers and part of his back. He will, however, take carrots from most. LOL If he isn’t comfortable he will not approach the human or he will just walk away. But if anyone tries to restrain him or approach him with a rope/lead he will retreat – and I dare anyone to try to go after him! He’s a happy boy and that’s what matters the most. He’s got his own safety bubble and that’s just fine. He lets me do what is needed and it took awhile to build up that trust – I’ll never betray it. Trust is key to a relationship with a horse – especially one like Magic. I adore him and he knows he is safe here.

Roxy with Ginger

Peggy Sue getting a hooficure a few days ago. We have to put her in a sling because of her back leg not being able to bend.

Remember Handsome? The first pic is the day he came to Beauty’s Haven in Aug. He had a hero for a vet that saw too much life in him to do what was being asked. He had serious thrush and his shoes were too small for him. After a little time of recovery here at the rescue, second photo below is Handsome meeting Santana, another gelding, for the first time. Handsome had been a lone horse for 5 years, and it was breathtaking for us to see this this meeting occur. Handsome needs some diagnostics: labs/testing done on a lump on his elbow, and he doesn’t have sponsors for any of his care or upkeep. Please let us know if you can help sponsor Handsome…

Handsome. His name fits him well.

Why is it when we get inquiries about gaited horses we have none and now we have 2 and we can’t find them homes? Ginger is a VERY sweet mare that is ready for a forever home. She was born in 1997 and is very good under saddle. She’s a registered TWH that is not quite 14 hh.

Amber is coming back to the rescue from her foster home. She NEEDS shade. Isn’t there anyone that is looking for a nice TWH mare? She was born in 2008 and is registered.

JoJo escorting Auntie Ruth to her car. He’s a good boy.

October 15th

Classy is walking more comfortably today.

JoJo wanted lots of attention this am. I walked up the stairs to go into the office and looked down behind me and there he was. LOL "Mommy Theresa can I go to work with you in the office for a little while? Um, I can’t find my flymask and the clouds are gone."

And CaryLou wasn’t far behind JoJo! Mini see – mini do! LOL

Victoria is still holding her own. She had an acupuncture treatment today. Bob and Dave removed the boards between two stalls last evening in order to open up the birthing stall for her. I just did not want her out in the rains and I thought the 12 x 12 stalls were too small. She had a shelter but I’m not sure she would have stayed in it. And we had some really torrential rains through the night.

October 16th

Well, the golf cart that we use to pull the poop spreader is broke again.

CaryLou learning to tap dance. LOL

He’s back…. [youtube http://youtube.com/w/?v=yHiVdOMHwWs&feature=youtu.be]

Barbholding Donovan for me yesterday when I was getting ready to change his boo boo bandages. He is massive! I’m so glad he’s better. We still watch him closely to make sure he sweats. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t. At least the temps are getting better which will help him – it will help all of us! It dipped below 50 degrees last night. Little E had to wear a lightweight blanket – he’s been known to shiver if it goes below 50.

Little E getting some scratches from Jenny today.

Ginger is so sweet! She’s a TWH mare looking for a forever home.

CaryLou enjoying the mister – he’s a hoot!

October 7th

Dr. Ted Specht came out today to x-ray Peaches, Classy, and Victoria’s front feet. Well, sometime through last night Peaches popped an abscess in her front right – we found her walking just fine this morning so we passed on her for x-rays. Classy has been having issues in her front right also.

Victoria is still very tender on both front feet and abscesses are still draining which has me a bit worried – infection is always a concern. She’s not run a temperature – she’s lively, alert, and has a great appetite. Today she was up and moving almost all day long. The last 2 days, she was down quite a bit. She’s been through so much – please keep Victoria and Classy, in your prayers. The indirect lightening strike back in July really shook her but she’s always maintained a positive and determined attitude. She has a lot of light and love in her eyes.

Victoria and Donovan – they are very good friends.

October 8th

The world from Ginger’s back. What a sweet girl!!!! I needed this!

October 9th

Good morning from Beauty’s Haven! I hope to get to the computer this evening after a busy day here at the rescue because I want to share what we learned from Classy and Victoria’s x-rays. Dr. Specht will be coming by on Saturday to discuss them in detail and to review their history and suggest our options. Dr. Julia and I will be in touch today – she is out of town this week. I will say it’s not good news but I’m praying there are options. We love these girls so much – we have to believe that there is hope. Please believe with us and send them good thoughts and prayers. We’ve experienced miracles here – we need two more. Believe…

I have to say that Ginger is wonderful under saddle. Kylie and I both got on her for just a bit last evening. We have beautiful sunsets here almost nightly.

Lisa giving Victoria some extra attention this morning.

Classy and Lucy graziing. Happy ponies.

Three amigos waiting for breakfast this am. Bouie, Frodo, Peggy Sue.

Our ‘Little Herd’ happily grazing.

Victoria has never lost her Arabian sass. She knows I’m in here making dinner!

And so ends an uneventful day at the rescue and believe me when I say that uneventful is good! Donovan had a hooficure – his feet are doing much better which makes me (and my back) happy. Victoria and Classy are holding their own. Classy hangs out quite a bit outside of Cookie’s stall window. Victoria hangs around the barn.

We reviewed Classy and Victoria’s most recent x-rays with the farrier today and will be meeting with Dr. Specht tomorrow. Dr. Julia will be back next week to see them. We will identify what our options are and go from there – I have a lot of faith in these two mares. For now, we try to keep them comfortable (so far we seem to be doing a good job – a couple of days were bumpy when we had heavy rains but we’ve had no rain for a few days now). We pray for many more years with them, and, we keep believing… Please keep them in your prayers.

Have a good night everyone – we are going to be calling it a day here real soon. I apologize to anyone that I haven’t responded to via emails or PM’s – I haven’t had much time at all in the office. Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll be in the office for a bit. I wonder what the big guy was telling JoJo?

October 11th

It was a really nice day and some horses got a much needed bath.

This is our son, Joshua, visiting with Classy. I do believe her feet are feeling slightly better. We haven’t had anymore rain.

JoJo having a conversation with Classy.

Ruby overseeing Paul cleaning the cobwebs out of the barn aisle-way. The aisle-way looks great! If only it would stay looking so good!

Katie came home for the weekend and got to ride Ginger for a little while today. Ginger is a petite little TWH mare that is so, so sweet! She’s looking for a forever home.

Look what y’all did for the horses!!! This is what a Village can do! Believe!!!

Have a great week, everyone!

Sincerely,
Theresa
