Getting ready to go play.

I had been told to be careful when releasing her because she would turn and bolt. We have been working on halter on, off, release, and doing it all over again. So far, so good. Thankfully.

She got lots of praise. Released and more praise. And then she followed.

And she kept following. I like to teach them to come or follow when I tap my hand on my leg. Sometimes I don’t have much of a voice.

Hopefully she’ll continue to do good. There may very well be buttons I haven’t pushed yet. For now, we’ll continue to take it slow and keep building trust. I have seen her be uncomfortable with some noises which I guess are new to her. But if she is on the lead when she hears something new she just raises her head and goes on alert and freezes – she hasn’t tried to flee. Act like it’s nothing and she relaxes pretty quickly. She is more comfortable with me on her right side than she is her left – we’ll be working on that.
Thank you all for caring about her. I’m so very happy we were able to help her!
Sincerely,
Theresa

Adora’s Evening – Dr. Ryan
Adora was seen by Dr. Ryan this evening – she was a little afraid but she did well. Her blood work came back pretty much ok which is very good news. She needs proper nutrition which she’ll get.

The poor little girl looks like she’s been through a lot. Under all that fur she is very thin. She looks very tired and worn out. Soon, the look on her face will be happier and healthier.

She will capture your heart with just one glance. Her teeth need to be done badly – Dr. Ryan would only say she’s “aged”.
She will have a hooficure as soon as possible. Tomorrow she’ll get a good grooming. I wanted to give her today to just settle in.
She is simply adorable. She walks up and gives me a thankful and loving look that I can’t describe – well, maybe I can describe it in just one word – relief! Thank you for giving her a chance!
Sincerely,
Theresa

Adora’s face..
She really has a beautiful face and hopefully the look of long term stress will diminish over time.
She is thin, feet need to be done, her halter was way too tight, burrs and she has a tangled mess of a mane and coat.
I think she was happy to have the halter removed. I know I felt better after I took it off of her!

Theresa

Adora
Today would be my mom’s 97th birthday if she were still with us. This little mini mare needed a safe place to land – I know my mom would love her. Happy birthday mom – love and miss you! She is adorable – meet “Adora”!
“Welcome home little one – you’ve made it to where you’ll never go without again – a new beginning for you!”

Older mare – can we help!
No sooner did the horses leave for their new home this morning I got a call about an older mini mare that needs a home.
The owner wants $250 for her and I told her that’s nuts! Got a call back and they will take $125 for her – we don’t usually buy horses but this mare needs a good place to go – the grass is dormant and she’s getting thinner.
We would need another $200 for initial vetting, farrier, dental. While someone else may buy her I’m worried that she may end up in another bad situation. She’s older and thin and I’m afraid someone that may take her would allow kids on her – that happens a lot around here. I personally don’t think mini’s are meant to be ridden.
So – $325 – it’s up to all of you – can we help her?
Sincerely,
Theresa

Shavings?
The horses need a load of shavings (60 bags) for $230. Would anyone like to help? That would be $3.84 per bag.
If 30 people bought 2 bags ($7.68 total for 2 bags) we’d be set for a few weeks. Thank you!

Theresa

Gypsy Yesterday
I meant to send this out last night to our email distro list. Sorry it’s late…
Gypsy today… The weather wasn’t good but I spent a few minutes with her a few times throughout the day. She’s pretty much an “in your pocket” girl that greets me at the gate. I haven’t experienced any mean streaks with her yet – hopefully there won’t be any.

She’s curious about everything – she’s like a shadow.

Sincerely,
Theresa
