Good morning everyone! Today Little E, Morgan Lafaye, and Solace are getting hooficures! Would anyone like to sponsor any one of them for this?
Morgan recently came back to the rescue and is in need of monthly sponsors until we find her a forever home.
We appreciate every little amount. NO amount it too small and every little bit helps!! https://bhfer.org/oldsite/donate.html

To all their fans,

Kami and Haley have been a blast for us. They provide constant entertainment, especially Kami! She is larger than life (So she thinks) and doesn’t back down to anyone or anything. Kami and Haley spend quite a bit of time with Ouiji and Warrior since they are neighbors and all of them together are a blast! Here are some pictures of Kami and Haley:

Here they are after a bath, sitting with George and I under a tree.

And here they are doing what they do best! LOL They have a rough life!

Rusty is doing well in his new home. I see him all the time and they just LOVE him. He has the run of the farm! He has a little Paso Fino gelding as a friend and they play tag and ball all the time. He is very funny and I can see where Kami gets her personality from. Here are some pictures of Rusty:

Rusty’s human Mom is a teacher, here is Rusty at school with the kids.

He was a BIG hit and so well behaved!!

Here is Rusty with his friend Chico…Guess who is boss? Not Chico! LOL

Rusty likes coke! Shortly after this photo was taken, he grabbed the cup and tried to leave with it!

Sunset is having a hard time with the warmer weather we’ve been having. We were able to find someone to come to clip Sunset on Saturday.

There will be a charity event at the Silly Grape in Maitland on April 6th at 8pm. Anyone not on Facebook who would like to RSVP can e-mail me at bhfer.melissa. The Silly Grape, 1720 Fennell St., Maitland, Florida 32751

Mini mares had their teeth done yesterday. It was all new to them. But they did very well. They need more handling. Amy is good but Ariel can be silly at times about being touched near her back end. Their teeth needed to be done really bad.

Penny – "But mommy Theresa I want to go in the house with you! Please!! I won’t terrorize Duke – I promise!"

I nominated Theresa Batchelor for this. Everyone please go on and VOTE for her!! http://www.facebook.com/elderfordoftampa?sk=app_122545277907030&app_data

Between what has been received and pledged the MATCH GAME IS OVER!!! Great job everyone and we can’t thank you enough – new hay coming! Thank you all so very much – it really is amazing and quite comforting to know that others care so much and can make things like this happen and in just a few hours.

The horses are good for a few more days now. God bless you all!

A blast from the past – this is Katie (our daughter) on the left with her horse Riley and me with Beauty and 2 of Bob’s sisters – this was taken many, many years ago when we lived in Tampa.

We started trying to raise funds for a ton of hay this morning.

A match game for $260 was offered by an anonymous person on Facebook this am to help with any funds over the cost of a ton of hay going towards vet bills.

There is only $60 left in the Match Game – would anyone like to play?

Sincerely,
Theresa

Another quick update. Still trying to get over my sickness so I can return to normal function – it’s been way too long. I was at Dr.’s. again yesterday – more x-rays and blood tests. Still having a tough time even wanting to eat or drink. No energy.

Pam picked Sisco (the Paint gelding with the melanoma) up this morning and brought him to the rescue. His human mom that surrendered him, Linda, followed to make sure he got settled in ok and that he was comfortable. Sisco is 20+ years young and he had large melanoma under his tail and was going to be put to sleep at the end of January if a home had not been found. We offered to take him provided we could find a home for a couple of the horses here – Blackie and Lace went to their new home together and have settled in nicely. The set of pictures under this set may be graphic for some.

Stacy Ferris did some great networking and was able to raise enough in donations to have the melanoma removed last week and hay/grain provided to SIsco, and his feet were trimmed yesterday. A biopsy is being done on the mass that was removed from under his tail and we are awaiting results. The picture on the left was taken today. The one on the right was taken last week before the mass was removed.

Dr. Ryan checked Sisco out and did some blood work. We hope to have the mass biopsy results back next week so we can figure out our course of action. Sisco is a very nice boy – very expressive and sweet. Sisco needs sponsors – would anyone like to help him? The dentist will be here on Monday to do his teeth.

While Dr. Ryan was here he checked on Solice. He’s doing ok but did have a drippy nose this evening – he’s still on antibiotics. He’s been prancing around looking like he’s feeling pretty good. His appetite is good and his temperature has remained normal. Another CBC was done today. When Dr. Ryan went back out to his truck he found that little Penny had started taking the supplies in his truck apart. J

We need your help! We bought a ton of hay earlier this week and we need to buy another ton tomorrow from Larson’s. We need about a dozen horse size double Velcro fly masks. We need $230 for 60 bags of shavings – the vet bill is pretty high. Since I’ve been sick and not getting updates out donations have gone down. I hope to get better and start sharing more info again soon but in the mean time – please don’t forget about us and know that we need your help now as much as ever. Donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small. Donations can be made via our “Donate” page on our website at: https://www.bhfer.org/oldsite/donate.html. Donations can also be called into the vet’s office at 352-237-6151. Donations towards the purchase of hay can be called into Quality Hay at 352-529-0888. God bless and have a wonderful weekend.

January 22nd, 2013

This was taken of Solace today.  He is doing well which makes us humans feel better.

I am a little better.  I tire very easily.  I did manage to eat some mashed potatoes and drink some weak tea today.  My doctor (family Dr. not the one at the hospital) called to check on me and said I need to go in for another chest X-ray. Hopefully I’ll continue to improve.  I really appreciate everyone’s kind words and prayers.  I hope to get out an update out on of some horses tomorrow.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Ok, I think we have me figured out now. The pharmacy mislabeled the dosage on one of the antibiotics and after taking them yesterday afternoon for the 2nd time it didn’t take long before I was back in the bathroom and doubled over in pain. It was horrible – absolutely horrible. I really thought I was going to die. I don’t think I could have made it to the hospital if I had tried. In fact, I know I couldn’t have. I would have stayed in the hospital on Saturday but the hospital I was at is not one I’d want anyone to stay in – we live in the sticks and that hospital has been in dire straits for awhile now for various reasons. Had I been in a Gainesville hospital I definitely would have stayed on Sunday.

So the dosage was corrected this morning on my meds, we swapped the apple juice out with a Gatorade drink (the apple juice was also irritating my gut), and I was able to eat a slice of toast before meds this am and a ½ of a banana for lunch. A probiotics was also added to my daily list of things to take.

I’m at least able to sit at the computer and publish this update. That’s a start. I’ve slept most of today which I guess I needed and I’m pretty wiped out still. So I’m back to bed but wanted to get out a short update – thanks everyone.

Sincerely,
Theresa

After many hours and tests at the hospital, and finally getting fluids and then being told I was being admitted, I advised the Dr. I was not about to stay there (for a few reasons). Discharge diagnosis of gastroenteritis, the flu, early pneumonia. I got meds for nausea, the flu, antibiotics, etc. I likely should not have waited so long to get help but each night I went to bed thinking I would feel better in the am but it didn’t happen. They say there is a lot of this going around. I haven’t been anywhere to pick up anything so I don’t know how it happened. I do have a weak immune system so it’s not hard for me to pickup things. Anyway, I’m going to get better and get up and going in the next day or so – gradually work up my days. I don’t want to go through this again!

Theresa

This was Solace yesterday afternoon. He is fine today enjoying the sun. It is a bit breezy though.

I’m about to head to the ER – Bob wanted me to go last night – I was doubled over in pain and in tears. But this am I decided I’m losing the battle and I really need to get well ASAP. I still can’t eat and I have to force myself to drink. Everything is just nauseating. This one really knocked me down.

Have a great day everyone.

Theresa
