BHFER Update 101712
We hope everyone is having a good week. I can’t believe it is Wednesday already – almost Thursday! We’re staying busy here – so many chores to do and with the days getting shorter it sure doesn’t help. The weather has been awesome – I wish it would stay like this all year. Today is the first day we had to buy large pasture bales (700 lb compressed bales) of hay for each of the paddocks which kicks off our official hay season. We have about 1 ½ tons of small bales which we’ll go through in no time. But at least, for now, we have hay!
I need to get finished on some things so I’m going to share some photos and get back to work.
Baby Ray and Baby Girl butt to butt – with Indy.
Baby Girl – a very special filly.
Little Indy isn’t so little anymore! But he is still very handsome. He loves to take everything out of the golf cart and then watch humans have to pick everything up and put it all back again.
This is Lace – she is a very sweet girl. She is looking for her forever home.
Starbuck is healing just fine from being gelded. He will be able to go back out with Dora to play in a couple of days.
Dr. Ryan was out this week to examine Bella and run some blood work – she was coughing and looking like she just didn’t feel well. He thinks she has allergies – it’s only recently started. She’s getting meds for a few days. I didn’t hear her cough at all today. But she did whinny at me quite a bit today “More hay please!”
These little donkeys sure do love the attention they get!
Peggy Sue – she didn’t even get out of the paddock this morning before her head went down to check out the grass! Little Rambo had his surgery to fix his locking stifle and he is now with his new family.
This is a very sweet 8 year old Appendix mare that needs a home. She is not far from Ocala, FL. If anyone would be interested in her please contact Melissa at bhfer.melissa. Please consider giving this girl a home. There is another little filly with her but I think we’ve been able to place her. We will know on Friday. If anyone is interested in this 8 yr old and would like more pictures please let me know before Friday.
Nikole and HighTower have settled into their new home and are doing great. They are being spoiled rotten but they deserve it! I hope to post a more detailed update on some of the other horses soon. This weekend we will be busy sorting through blankets – we’re supposed to have a cool night coming this weekend. Little E gets a thin blanket if it gets below 50 degrees and there is a wind. I know last night I thought it was a bit chilly!
Lastly, I’d like to ask for prayers for a friend – her name is Janet. We hope she feels better soon. I do believe in the power of prayer so if lots of us include her in our prayers hopefully she’ll be back on her feet soon. We appreciate everyone’s continued support – have a wonderful rest of the week. Thank you all!
Sincerely,
Theresa
