Update on Paso Fino Mares

Here are pictures of a few of the mares – I ran out of time but will post more in a couple of days. Unfortunately, I need to spend tomorrow in the office all day to get caught up on paperwork. I was out at the Paso farm most all day. It was a good day and a lot got done. Gates/fencing got fixed, unsafe debris was picked up and removed, more feet were trimmed, etc. There was too much commotion going on around the barn to do much at all with one of the two herds of mares. We do have some of the thinner ones separated off into one of the smaller paddocks.
Mare #1. Dark bay, no white. Very friendly.
Mare #2. Bay with some white hairs above left eye.
Mare #3. Chestnut with stripe and very thick coat.
Mare #4. Dark bay (almost black) with no white. She is the thinnest.
Mare #5. Chestnut with tag (#16) around neck.
Mare no, 4. Any idea how tall she is? Age? she’d need some good gentle conditioning before traveling I guess. Oh, and was she calm or agitated around people? Any clue as to her reactions to interaction with people? She is probably way too far away to bring here to CO but wanted to ask in case there’s a chance…Love her face. any more photos of her? Id’ love to see a side view of her face actually.
I’m guessing she is about 14 hh. Have no clue on her age. I’m sorry I can’t tell you more about her personality – when we moved her to a small paddock where we could try to start handling her and other thin ones she was so upset about being separated from her friend that we let her back out again with the others. She didn’t seem aggitated with people but she was clearly upset that her friend wasn’t in the same paddock with her. We’ll bring her in again but we need to move some studs off the property first to free up the barn. Then we can try to age her and see how she likes human interaction. I know that another mare that was as standoffish as this mare, once a halter was put on her and she was moved from the others, she became like a different horse. Now she greets us at the gate and is very appreciative of what humans for her. It may or may not be the same for the #4 mare. I’m sorry – I wish I could tell you more. She has beautiful and soft eyes and I hope she finds a home soon.
