“Dangerous” mare
Just got back to the rescue about an hour ago from meeting the “dangerous” mare – it’s been a long day. The mare (I’m told she is a Saddlebred) needs help – I will post more in a few minutes – I have a couple of things I must take care of and then I’ll be back to post more about her.
We are this mare’s last hope. I was told she is dangerous and would go to big cats – I’ve been promised a little time to see if we can help her. She is sedated in this picture – the vet palpated her and determined that she is not pregnant. Whew!
Sincerely,
Theresa

Dear Theresa, I rescued a Tennessee Walking horse a few years back, and got him back up to health from horrible conditions. He came from a very poor farm with barely an acre and he was kept in a round pen with another horse, it was so tight they couldn’t even turn around. The mare he was with had to euthanized, she was skin and bones-the round pen had no grass, and she got colic from trying to eat the sand. Shadow(The other horse in the pen) had also been extremely skinny, but we had been able to save him. I know their owner loved them a lot, but I guess not enough to let them go. Once Shadow was fat and happy again we had to let him go. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but I new I had to do what was best for him. I sold him to the Barnum & Bailey circus, I go there every now and again and make sure he’s being treated well. I even get to see him in shows once in awhile. But that’s not why I’m contacting you, I’m doing this to tell you how much I wish I had the money to do what I did with Shadow again, to do what you do… but I don’t. I can’t donate money for Gypsy, especially with taxes coming up, but I wanted to ask you if you would mind if I set up a campaign, and collect money for her or another one of your horses. I live down in the Orlando/Windermere area, so maybe I could come up and volunteer sometime?
