Blessed

Hi Everyone,
I hope this newsletter finds you all safe during these most challenging times. We have been hunkered down here at the farm as we practice social distancing with our wonderful team of volunteers who bravely, come out to assist us with the herd. It is with great hope that you will find some peace and joy as you read this update about our beloved ‘Velvet Nosers.’

Warmly,
Theresa

The Friendship Tree

This tree has been home to many friendships. These are some of our seniors – Little E, Niña, Peggy Sue, and Bria having a post breakfast gathering.

Bria’s Happy Feet

Bria is very beautiful and a very sweet mare. She still has to wear her SoftRides 24/6 but she doesn’t seem to mind at all.

Keeping Cool

Little Tilly has COPD. She hangs out at the barn on the days that are a bit challenging for her. She has a Portacool available to her but she prefers the shade of the tree.

Warrior, on the other hand, really appreciates the Portacoolers since he doesn’t sweat at times and also has seasonal airway issues.

Grateful

We are really appreciating the Carryall 700 that was donated to the rescue a couple of months ago. It saves a lot of time since we only have to make one trip to give out hay instead of 2 or 3 with a golf cart.

Shadow

Lastly, what would an update be without featuring Shadow!

Shadow was recently gifted a cooling mat which he truly loves! His training has been going very well. He is such an awesome dog who is always smiling for the camera!

“Don’t give up just because of the obstacles. Regardless of what obstacles face you, just keep going! Go through, go around, or go over or under – but never give up!”

In Memory of our beloved Betsy Rose, we are offering a set of four coasters featuring a sweet image of our beloved little mare with the flaxen mane. Betsy Rose touched the lives of people throughout the world and even though she sadly, is no longer with us physically, she continues to inspire us each and every day. Betsy taught us perseverance, courage, compassion, patience, wisdom and to believe. She proved that miracles do happen and to never give up despite the obstacles we face, and those obstacles are now clearly, in front of us during this most devastating pandemic.

Starting immediately, for each suggested donation of $5 that is designated for “Betsy’s Raffle,” you will receive one chance to become the lucky recipient of this adorable set of coasters.

Donations may be submitted via various means here on our website or via PayPalMe. All proceeds will be applied to our upcoming hay needs.

Niña

Niña is looking much better. When she lays down now, she’s strong enough to get up on her own. Niña recently, managed to injure her lip, but she was such a good girl and great patient when getting her wound cleaned and treated.

Penny’s Happy Mouth

Dr. Bess Darrow (Tune Ups Veterinary Equine Dentistry and Services) worked on Penny’s teeth last week. Penny had recently started to quid. Penny is a blind 30+ year old Belgian. Elyza Rose is her seeing eye pony and BFF.

Bria’s Happy Feet

“Got treats?”

Bria is holding her own and is most comfortable in her SoftRides boots. Take them off and it’s a different story – she has thin soles and some rotation in both front feet. But you can sometimes see her sprinting around looking for Little E or Cricket.

Hi Everyone,

At the time of this heartbreaking worldwide pandemic, our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by COVID-19. Thankfully, we are relatively safe, hunkered down here at the farm, carrying on as usual for the sake of our beloved little herd.

With so many now being laid off or becoming permanently unemployed, we can truly relate, as we too, have been affected greatly through the understandable loss of contributions, contributions upon which we rely in order to sustain the needs of all the precious beings in our care.

Although this may not be an appropriate time in which to ask for help when so many others are in dire need, the truth of the matter is that our thirty-plus equines (many with special needs) must still be fed while their veterinary, farrier and dental needs must also be continually met to ensure their overall health and well-being.

We would, thereby, like to offer a Match Game to assist with the cost of hay, whereby all donations up to $1000 will be matched dollar for dollar. We truly appreciate two of our wonderful supporters who have made this match game possible. If you are in a position to donate, you may do so via our website, or via PayPalMe. If donating via PayPal, please designate your donation to ‘Hay Match Game.’ If you select the tab, ‘Send Money to Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is ever too small. If you are unable to donate at this time, we truly understand but you can still help by sharing this need amongst family and friends!

Thank you, all, so very much, and please stay safe!

Warmly,
Theresa

Where there is love, there is Hope.
Our precious baby girl would have been one year old today.
20 March 2019 – 31 October 2019

Hi Everyone!

For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc., a place that is very near and dear to my heart.

The heat and humidity here in Florida can be quite brutal and it’s already in the ‘feels like’ mid to upper 80’s. We have horses that don’t sweat, or sweat sporadically, that can lead to heat stroke which can be fatal. To help the horses, we have a small Portacooler at each stall and a large Portacooler at the front of the barn aisle-way. The coolers can make a difference of up to 25 degrees! I know farriers, vets, visitors, and volunteers are very appreciative of the large Portacooler when working with the horses.

In order for the Portacoolers to work, however, several new parts are needed. The main cooler needs a pump and a media set while the smaller coolers need various parts (motor, switches, wiring harness, media, pumps, etc.). The total cost for the parts is $1269.79. So, for my birthday this year, I’d like to ask for help to raise this amount in order to procure the needed parts which Bob can thankfully, install thereby saving upon the cost of labor. I know this is a lot to ask, but I truly believe that our amazing village of supporters will come through to help make my Birthday Wish come true.

Donations may be forwarded via our Website, or via PayPalMe. If donating via PayPal, please designate your donation to ‘Theresa’s Birthday Wish.’ If you select the tab, ‘Send Money to Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is ever too small. If you are unable to donate at this time, we truly understand but you can still help by sharing this email amongst family and friends!

Thank you, all, so very much!

Hi Everyone!

Our 4th Annual Ride For The Horses was awesome – I’m already looking forward to next year! Please enjoy the video below highlighting the day’s events. Many thanks to everyone who pulled the event together (Y’all did a great job!), to those who participated and to those who donated.

Hay Fundraiser

Sadly, our Hay fundraiser still has a way to go so if you would like to make a one time or recurring donation, you may do so via our Website, or via PayPalMe. If donating via PayPal, please designate your donation to ‘Hay.’ If you select the tab, ‘Send Money to Friends or Family,’ no fees will be deducted from your contribution. All donations are tax deductible and no amount is ever too small. If you are unable to donate at this time, we truly understand but you can still help by sharing this need amongst family and friends!

Thank you, all, so very much!

Hi Everyone,

As you can see, sweet Penny and precious Elyza Rose are wondering where all the hay has gone, so it must be time for a Hay Run once again! Our supply of Orchard, Coastal & Alfalfa, as well as the large compressed bales of hay, is totally depleted, so our bill this week will be rather sizable at $1212!

If you would like to make a one time or recurring donation, you may do so via our Website, via PayPalMe.

Lastly, if anyone would like to offer a Match Game to help promote our hay needs, that would be simply wonderful and greatly appreciated by our beloved ‘Velvet Nosers!’

Thank you, all, so very much!

We were a bit worried about Niña during her first 48 hours here at the rescue. We learned that she had access to a tub of grain on her transport here and we didn’t know how much, if any, she had consumed. She went down the morning after she arrived and couldn’t get up. We had to roll her over in order to help her stand.

After receiving some fluids, Niña started to perk up a bit. She gets a warm soupy mash several times a day which she seems to enjoy. Her blood test results indicated highs and lows – typical values for a malnourished horse. Her immune system is quite compromised, she likely has ulcers, her kidneys are a bit stressed, she has a high parasite load, she’s pretty anemic, etc. Appropriate supplements have been been identified that we are adding to her re-feeding program.

Perking Up

Feeling Proud

Watching

Yesterday, we put a blanket on Niña – I don’t know if she’s ever worn one before, but I believe that she felt very special. She looked like a different horse in the blanket. She held her head high and it appeared that she was very very proud!

Niña watches the other horses all of the time. She hasn’t been with another horse in at least 16 years and I have to wonder what she’s thinking. When she is stronger, and the time is right, she’ll be introduced to another.

A wonderful friend and supporter has come forth to offer a Match Game to assist with the initial and ongoing care of sweet Niña. All donations up to $150, will thereby, be matched dollar for dollar.

Niña does not have any monthly sponsors thus far, so if you would like to be her ‘Angel’ for a few months or longer, you can sign up for as little as five dollars per month via our Website. If you would prefer to make a one time donation, you can do so here on our website, or via PayPal.me. If donating via PayPal, please designate your contribution to ‘Match Game.’ Please know that all contributions are so greatly appreciated and no amount is ever too small.

We would also like to thank everyone who has assisted with Niña’s expenses thus far. We are forever grateful for your extremely generous contributions, loving prayers and most thoughtful well-wishes. And we know that this sweet girl is truly, feeling your love as well!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
