Tilly here, to let you all know that we have reached the halfway mark for our hay fundraiser! Sadly, we now need a little more help to make sure we all have ‘Happy Feet’ in time for the holidays. Mommy Theresa told me that donations are way down because a lot of people are suffering and we all feel so very sad about that. If you can spare even one dollar, it would really make a difference in the lives of my horsey friends, but if you can’t, we truly understand. You can still help though, by sharing this post.

Thank you!

Love,
Tilly

I’d like to ask for good thoughts and prayers for our beloved Max who peacefully, transitioned to Rainbow Bridge yesterday morning.

Max was committed to watching over the farm and the animals at Beauty’s Haven for the past fourteen years. Many times he’d alert us that something was amiss and we’d go out and discover that he was gently pinning down another dog that had wandered onto the property while being so very careful not to hurt the frightened pup. He was, truly, the absolute best.

We love Max so very much and he will forever remain in our hearts. The farm just won’t be the same without him.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Mishka and Mo here, letting you all know that it is time for a Hay Run again! The grass is dormant and, for the last couple of nights, it’s been cool enough that a couple of the minis have had to wear light blankets. Sadly, the weekly hay run is going to have to turn into an almost twice-a-week run. If anyone would like to help the current hay need, it would truly make our tummies happy!

Our beloved herd is in need of a ton of orchard hay @ $610, 2 bales of alfalfa @ $38 and $225 for coastal for a total of $873.

If anyone would like to help with this need, please click the DONATE button below and note that your donation is for ‘Hay Match Game.’

Love,
Mishka & Mo

P.S. Mo here. Mishka really eats a lot of hay!

We continue to remain busy here at the rescue and the days are over before we know it. The temps are down a bit, which thankfully, provides some relief for both horses and humans alike, but especially for our horses who don’t sweat.

Some of you may remember Nash. He’s now back at the rescue – a rainbow appeared out of nowhere and welcomed him upon his arrival a few days ago! He’s another precious senior, born in 1992, and is a grandson of Dash for Cash.

Nash is in need of sponsors to help with his vetting, farrier, dental, and routine needs. These are his health issues we are currently treating:

  • He has infections in 3 of 4 feet – he was CleanTrax’d yesterday.
  • He’s underweight so his diet has been modified to better suit his needs.
  • His bloodwork indicated that he’s anemic and there are some other highs and lows as well.
  • Nash has a high parasite load (1500+ EPG) so we’ve started him on a deworming protocol as prescribed by the vet.
  • He’s being treated with Succeed for ulcers – this will also help his immune system.
  • Once his immune system is improved, he will need vaccinations. He will also require a Panacur PowerPak as well as be seen by Dr. Bess, our equine dentist, for dental work.

Would anyone like to help sweet Nash?

If so, you can make a one-time donation or sign up to make an automatic monthly recurring donation (which you may cancel at any time), via our secure Donate page. It’s challenging to find homes for any horse at this time but to find a wonderful home for three old friends, together, well it’s a miracle! Spring, Satin, and Lightning are truly blessed – they now have their own human family that adores them!

Thank you to all who helped them on their remarkable journey.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Sisco went to Rainbow Bridge yesterday, very peacefully. I can just imagine his reunion with many of our herd that went before him. They are all loved, always.

Sincerely,
Theresa

This is Sisco grazing around the house with his old friends, Chloe and Aaleyah Belle, just over the fence. They chatted for a bit and then Sisco went off to graze.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a good update. Sisco’s cancer has spread and he also has navicular syndrome. He’s lived 30+ years and, at his age, we just can’t ask him to go through multiple treatments, in multiple places, over an unknown amount of time. The most humane thing we can do for Sisco is to let him join others from our herd that have gone to Rainbow Bridge before him.

Every horse owner has a responsibility to always provide the best for those in their care, to include letting them go in order to prevent unnecessary suffering. Making the decision is never easy – we love our animals so much we want to hold on to them forever. But it’s not about us – it’s about the animals that depend on us.

Loving Sisco enough to let him go to Rainbow Bridge is the most unselfish act of love that we can offer. The vet will be out later this week but, until then, Sisco will continue to get medication to help him be comfortable, lots of TLC, and lots of soaked orchard hay (which he loves).

We’ve had way too many losses this year and we hope and pray this is the last for a long time. Although, I’m sad to share that Kitty Cat has more tumors and Max’s hips are failing him. Thankfully, it’s not their time yet but we are taking it day to day and each day we are given is a blessing. And as for us humans here, our hearts break more with each loss. Prayers and good thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you.
Theresa
