LadyBug got all but 2 stitches out today. The vet flushed her tear duct and the remaining stitches will come out in a week. She is really glad she no longer has to wear the eye cup.

Lucy munching on her forage today. Her jaws and tongue are working nicely.

It’s been very busy these past few days. We laid 2 pallets of sod on Friday – just before the weekend showers. Hopefully, it will help some of the erosion issues. Ladybug’s eye is doing great. The vet will be looking at it again tomorrow and hopefully the stitches will be coming out.

Stetson was very good for vetting last Friday. He had quite a few ticks on him but was great about having them removed – he even allowed one to be pulled out of in his ear without a fuss. His teeth are horrible and his feet need to be done. We’ll get it all taken care of in the next few days. We could use some help with his care. If anyone would like to help sponsor him please let me know. No amount is too small.

Stetson is more animated each day. He does love his hay! CaryLou will run the fence line and paw the ground like he is challenging Stetson – it’s pretty comical. I’ll try to get pictures of it tomorrow.

Cisco, Tia, and Tess are all settled into their adoptive home and are doing great. All horses should be this lucky!

Tess and her mom, Tia, are only 4 years apart – they will have a happy life together and Cisco has little herd of two to watch over. I’m happy for everyone! This is Tess with her adopted human mom, Michelle.

I keep forgetting to post a picture of one of the Memorial Stars that were placed on Frosty’s Knoll. They are really beautiful and made with a lot of love. Susan and Gabby did a great job. Thank you to everyone that participated in this fundraiser that will be with us forever.

Sisco is doing well. The area where the cancer was looks good. There is one, very small spot, that we’re continuing to watch and we are applying cream to it.

Sweet little Penny. Always wanting to help. Look at those long ears!

Have a good night everyone. We’re getting ready for the cold weather. From 88 degrees today to 44 degrees tonight – I’d say that is a drastic change. Please pray that we don’t have any colic’s and that the mares don’t foal tonight. It’s supposed to be the last cold night.

Sincerely,
Theresa

It was another busy day at the rescue – there were a dozen hooficures done and some dental work was done too. Many thanks to Marie, Bob, Ginger, Kayla, Judy, Fabio, and Dr. Bess for all that was done in the hours I was gone – as always – we appreciate you all and your support. Marie worked super overtime and must be exhausted tonight!

Jenny and I left in the morning to see the stud – I had decided to call him Stetson. For some reason that name came to me the first time I saw a picture of him. So, meet Stetson…

He is thin, very thin.

Very kind eyes that looked a bit worried.

We left the farm this morning to take him some hay but instead of leaving the hay I called Pam (Double B Transport) to come pick him up and take him to the rescue – thanks Pam! Once here, he seemed surprised, and pleased, to see other horses.

He is thin – no fat and very little muscle. He moves rather awkwardly at a fast walk or greater. But he is young and his rehab has now begun. He’s already beautiful – just wait until he fills out!

He’s pretty vocal and he continues to talk with the others – he was alone where we picked him up from. Welcome to Beauty’s Haven Stetson – no more worries!

The mini’s were standing by their fence looking up and over at him like "OMG he is TALL!" Except for little CaryLou – he looked at him like “Ok, I’m the big guy around here – my barn, my rules, got it?”

The vet will be out tomorrow to examine Stetson. If anyone would like to help him our PayPal address is Theresa. Or donations can be made via our “Donate” page of our website (https://www.bhfer.org/oldsite/donate.cfm). Donations are tax deductible and no amount is too small. We are an all volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are only able to do what we do because of support from others. We’ll have a better idea of his needs after he is vetted tomorrow.

I’m calling it a day – I’m running off of about 3 hours of sleep from last night due to an asthma attack. I know I have PM’s, emails, and phone calls to respond to and I’ll try to get to them tomorrow. Thank you all for caring – God bless and good night!

I need help. This is a 4 year old stud that we have been asked to take but we are full and have no space for a stud at this time. But until he finds a safe spot to land (which we will be trying to help find) we would like to make sure he is not hungry. We need $130 to provide him with a large compressed bale of O&A that would last him at least 3 weeks. Could anyone help with this?

I plan on seeing him tomorrow to get more info on him and to take pictures – I would like to take the hay with me.

Thank you for any amount that you can spare.

Sincerely,
Theresa

Ok, all our Beauty’s Haven Equine Rescue supporters and followers, who wants to play a game? For every $5 donation made to the rescue for the “Mini Momma Guess Game” you will get one guess as to which mini mare will foal first. The game will continue until the first foal is born. All winners will get a print of CaryLou!

Please make sure that if you make your guess through our online options for sending funds that you put "mini mare game" and your guess in the note area. If you mail a check, make sure to mark your check with "mini mare game" and your guess. All donations are tax deductible and all money raised goes directly to the care of the horses! But please remember, if you do win, your $5 is not tax deductible because you will be getting a print.

Please help us with the baby bedding!

Hummmm…. Wonder what he is trying to talk Lucy into doing. There is never a dull moment with him! LOL!

And please don’t forget out current fundraiser! We are offering 5 x 7 prints from beautiful artwork done by Shannon Mordue of Quicksilver Graphics Company. Prints are available via our website at http://bhfer.bigcartel.com/!

Thank you to everyone that contacted the organizers of the donkey roping competition that was planned for today in Texas and asked them to cancel. In the contest, held to raise funds for the Marines, donkeys are roped and tormented for “entertainment.” We have been advised that the “benefit” was cancelled but I haven’t seen anything to actually confirm it yet. I hope and pray it is true. When I think about something like that happening to Penny or Penelope or Domino, well, it is just unthinkable!

I’d like to introduce Tia and Tess – a mother and newborn that needed a safe place to land. Tess was born yesterday morning – they arrived at the rescue yesterday evening in the winds and rain. And we had terrible rain and wind storms through the night but they were comfortable in the shelter of the quarantine paddock with hay and forage.

Tess weighs about 30 lbs and has the markings of a Jerusalem donkey – here is a link to the story behind the markings: http://www.mdresort.com/legend-christian-donkey.

Dr. Ryan examined them today and we got some results back this afternoon – the baby’s IGG is good. Whew!

Tia is young herself – maybe four years old. She adores her baby.

The dark you see on mom is rain rot we’ll be treating – she’s lost a good part of her coat on her right side. But the loss is ok because unhealthy coat has to come out so new, healthy coat can come in. And there is some on her legs – some a bit all over. Baby Tess is all legs and ears!

If anyone would like to help sponsor these precious girls please let me know. Have a good night everyone – I’ll be away from the computer until tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Theresa
