Waylon

BREED:  Quarter Horse

GENDER:  Gelding

AGE:  1997 YOB

Waylon came from Calder Race Track where he was formerly used as a track pony for many years. Now that he is older, he was no longer needed or wanted by his owner. Waylon was temporarily placed with another person who owned a stallion. The stallion jumped a fence and viciously attacked Waylon. He suffered a terrible bite to his rump which was about six inches long and should have received stitches, as well as other bite and kick marks which have all healed nicely.

Waylon was brought to the safety of Beauty’s Haven in honor of ASPCA’s Help a Horse Day on April 25, 2015. He is very kind and the look in his eyes is warm and wise. In late summer, 2015, he started having a hard time with the high heat and humidity. His respiration gets a bit high during the worst of days but as the weather is cooling down it is improving. Not uncommon for horses his age, he has very cataracts that should be reassessed each year. He would make a good trail horse and would do well in a northern state – away from the heat and humidity of Florida. Waylon has allergies which can cause him to have periodic respiratory issues if not treated.
