Handsome came to us in 2014 from a home where he developed allergies. A vet was called out to euthanize him but after examining Handsome, the vet refused and called us to see if we would take him – he felt that Handsome’s allergies and respiratory issues could be managed and possibly prevented.
Here, Handsome did not have allergy issues and was a healthy and happy horse. He was adopted out but in mid-summer of 2015 the adopter called and said he had respiratory issues so we brought him back and are currently treating him. We asked ourselves what the original home and the adoptive home had in common – they both had many types of trees and overgrown shrubbery around them. Here, we have open paddocks and only a few trees. The vet has advised that it would be in Handsome’s best interest to go north.
